I made this thread to solicit support for my proposal, which is to repeal UN Resolution #22 in favor of a better crafted resolution... The original proposal reads...

UNITED NATIONS RESOLUTION #22

Outlaw Pedophilia
A resolution to restrict civil freedoms in the interest of moral decency.

Category: Moral Decency
Strength: Mild
Proposed by: Goobergunchia

Description: RESOLVED, That the act of sexual molestation of a pre-pubescent minor is hereby outlawed in all UN member nations.

If passed, the new resolution would read:

...any sexual relations between a minor and an adult shall be prosecuted by the government of any UN Member Nation as criminal on the part of the adult notwithstanding any mitigating circumstances.

which I feel is a more clear elucidation of the desired law.

If you are a regional delegate to the UN and feel like supporting this repeal, this link (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/61427/page=UN_proposal/start=49) works (for the present at least...), or you can click on the UN button, hit list all proposals, find page 10 (that number might change though), and then approve it. Thanks for your support, input here would also be appreciated. And if you like my proposal, endorse me (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/61427/page=display_nation)!

You're confusing a repeal with an amendment. Repeals simply remove the law from existance. Amendments are illegal under UN rules.

Repeals are illegal under UN rules.

I think what was meant is that amendments are illegal under UN rules. To "amend" a resolution, it must first be repealed in entirety and then a new (replacement) resolution must be passed.

I swear it said "Amendments" when I posted it.
