Wouldn't life be better if it were slightly more awesome? I think that is difficult to dispute.

Please, regional delegates, support the resolution to adopt International Awesomeness Day. Text of the proposal follows:

International Awesomeness Day
A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.
Category: Human Rights
Strength: Mild
Proposed by: Foltan

Description: UNDERSTANDING that the world today suffers from an extreme lack of awesomeness,

THINKING that increased awesomeness will benefit nations and increase quality of life for citizens the world over,

FEELING that the right to experience awesomeness is an undeniable human right,

IN THE HOPES THAT the mean global awesomeness ratio (MGAR) can be increased by an order of ten over the next fifteen years,

BE IT RESOLVED that the United Nations and all member states will adopt June 19 as INTERNATIONAL AWESOMENESS DAY - a celebration of all that is awesome in the world.

International Awesomeness Day - designated June 19th in recognition of the awesome contributions of the Archduke of Foltan's sister - will be celebrated with parties, drinking, excellent catered foods, a small and tasteful fireworks show, and a dance recital. It will be pretty damned awesome.

As the first international holiday, where UN member states join together in awesomeness to celebrate as one world, International Awesomeness Day will foster great brotherhood and sisterhood amongst the world's peoples, who for the first time will join together in celebration of a non-secular observance. That, too, is pretty awesome.

Revenues created will go toward assisting the awesomeness-deprived youth of the third world.

I'm disinclined to agree here. My nation is awesome and I know it.

THINKING that increased awesomeness will benefit nations and increase quality of life for citizens the world over,

Thinking? Legislation doesn't "think".

FEELING that the right to experience awesomeness is an undeniable human right,

Much better for a joke proposal.

You're assuming we work by your calender.

International Awesomeness Day - designated June 19th in recognition of the awesome contributions of the Archduke of Foltan's sister

Illegal. Direct reference of a nation or person. I don't particularly care who your sister is either.
- will be celebrated with parties, drinking, excellent catered foods, a small and tasteful fireworks show, and a dance recital. It will be pretty damned awesome.

That's it? Your idea of awesome sucks. When Pojonia wishes to do something awesome, we hold large and extravagant fireworks shows that occasionally end with the sky burning up and having to be replaced with a new one. Food is good, but not awesome, parties are only awesome depending on how much you put into them, drinking only creates artificial awesomeness and that's a stupid awesome. And seriously, a dance recital? You fail to incite any awe from me.

As the first international holiday, where UN member states join together in awesomeness to celebrate as one world, International Awesomeness Day will foster great brotherhood and sisterhood amongst the world's peoples, who for the first time will join together in celebration of a non-secular observance. That, too, is pretty awesome.
Not really the first time. Almost everything U.N. is fairly secular in nature, and there has been lots of interesting legislation that promotes non-secular brotherhood. And as for international holidays, you don't need legislation to make one up.

Revenues created will go toward assisting the awesomeness-deprived youth of the third world.

Revenues are unlikely if you're going for anything awesome. No, you'll spend money. Lots of money. Or you'll fail miserably.

Nifty idea, but even a joke proposal needs to jump the hoops or else it will be executed on sight.

You are not invited to the dance recital.

Awesomeness celebrations in my country usually involve dropping low yield nukes on small animals. Where's the massive explosions and irradiated barbeque in your celebration?

The last time DLE had a truly awesome party, the world it was held on was ruined beyond all ability to even atempt to repair. When we celebrate, we celebrate on a truly massive level.

In other words, we find your idea of awesomeness to be pretty mild.

Gentlemen, ladies, undecided, confused, algal lifeforms....please...the way forward here is for each nation to adopt an awesome party attitude of their own, having it enshrined within the UN is a nice touch which needs to be encouraged.
We think the discussion will go better if we all wear party hats. Please take a hat from the box near the door.

Well, if there is to be a day of awesomeness, I wouldn't mind it being my birthday. http://tigerdiamond.net/images/e0/whistling.gif </ooc>

But, UN worthy... no.

But, UN worthy... no.

So you're saying that the UN is not a place for awesomeness? How can the UN hope to guide the world without being awesome? A non-awesome UN stands no chance.

Good day, sir.

Look at it my way. I'm awesome. Really, I am. But if the U.N. legislates a bill that fuels awesomeness in other countries , I become less awesome in comparison. Eventually, there will come a time when I do something awesome - like alter the space-time continuum irrevocably (as I sometimes do) - and other nations will not be awed. No, they'll be all like "Oh, yeah, the space-time thing? Bill did that last Thursday."

Not that there will be a Thursday when I'm through with it.

Not that there will be a Thursday when I'm through with it.No, don't get rid of Thursday, if your going to get rid of a day rid us of Monday.

Analgians have long recognized June 19th as The Day We Got The News", or "Newsday". Notwithstanding recent controversy involving our "Neighbours To The Northeast* (or Southwest if you go the long way 'round) and a periodical by that name, those on the world stage familiar with the significance of this date would surely endorse recognition of same as truly a day of liberation.

This is the day we learned that we were free.

Not discounted...

Not marked down...

Not "Two-for-one" or "No payments until 2007" or anything else...

We were free...

We celebrated with barbecues and much rejoicing.

As a nation founded by refugees from "That Place From Which We Came", built with the sweat and tears of "Those Who Came Here", and kept strong by "All Of Us Who Care", we take special interest in international attention to this date and heartily endorse its worldwide recognition.
