Could you be a bit more specific? If you want to join, simply go to 'United Nations" from the mainpage, apply, and wait. If you're wondering what you can do as a UN Member, read the FAQ (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/41582/page=faq#UN).

I too think you should go to the FAQ about the UN first. But I can give you a little of the low-down here.

There are three levels of action in the UN: nation, region, and the whole UN. Each level is connected to the next.

Nation
The UN allows you to endorse other UN nations and to vote on resolutions "up to vote". The person with the most endorsements in a region becomes the delegate.

Region
As a regional delegate, UN membership allows you to approve proposals (which makes it possible for them to become resolutions "up to vote"), manage your region (such as banning/kicking and updating the factbook entry--if the founder allows you to) and vote with increased power on the resolutions at vote (you get 1 vote, plus a vote for every UN nation that has endorsed you).

The whole of the UN
The whole UN is affected by resolutions (which come to the floor for vote once 6% of all delegates approve them--which is about 150 right now and should go down slightly over the summer). Which resolutions pass through the floor is determined by both regional UN interaction and national UN interaction.

All three levels have interesting and fun things to do and there are 'tricks to the trade' for each as well. You'll probably start out interacting mostly on a national or regional level (with the nations in your region), but as you become conmfortable (and study the rules for proposals) you should be able to interact with the whole UN fairly quickly.

Um... I'm a regional delegate, and currently carry with me the support of five nations, which should allow me to be lend my approval to proposals and such...

So where excatly do I go to endorse a proposal (or repeal)?

To the UN page where all Proposals are listed.

Okay, I'm the regional delegate for Delphi. The FAQ you directed me to says:

How do I approve a proposal?

You must be a Regional Delegate. If you are, then you will have an option to approve proposals when you view the list. By allowing unapproved proposals to fall by the wayside, Regional Delegates make sure that the UN only votes on worthy issues.

So where exactly is my option to approve or support a proposal/repeal?

If I click on left and go to "United Nations" and from that page I select "List proposals" it then shows me all of the proposals - but there is no place I can choose to support a resolution or repeal on here. It just shows me who all else has done so.

What gives?

No you aren't:

Delphi

World Factbook Entry: The place for enlightened despotism.

UN Delegate: None.

Founder: The Dominion of Alisle

Founders do not have Proposal approval power, even if they are in the UN.

Because I founded the region I can't approve or disapprove of resolutions and repeals!?

Why?

No, it's because you weren't delegate. Now you are delegate, and now you can do so. Being a founder doesn't influence whether you can or cannot approve or disapprove of proposals, only the delegateship which you now have.

There could be a delay from when you get the endorcements and when you actually become the delegate :)

Well, I didn't ever think being a founder mattered. I had delegate endorsements, but was still not being allowed to vote on anything. It seems to have worked itself out now. Thanks.

It sorted itself out because you received endorsements yesterday but you were not updated as delegate until today, when the major update occurs, about 10am to 11am British time, about 2 in the morning Eastern time America.

That's a sink. You've somehow wound up in the kitchen again. Speaking of which, I'll be going out for dinner tonight, thank you very much.
