Make Energy Waste Illegal Worldwide:

Skvm

Lets make all forms of energy wastage illegal. Of course, as a by product of such a law coming into existece, being obese would become illegal too (Just look at all that wasted energy! I wonder how many homes that could have built?) but that would be for the best; They would become a damned sight healthier and we would be able to go to restaurants without having to watch vast moutains of lard sweat while they eat AND we would be able to go socialize without having our eyeballs raped by a 600lb beast in a size 8 dress "dancing" to 'Flap your wings'... picture that, then tell me it dont make sense, i dare you...

What a great idea! Repealing those damn laws of thermodynamics should go a long way towards eliminating the eventual heat-death of the universe, not to mention all the benefits to fuel economy.

While we're at it, can we make other laws of physics illegal? Let's start with Newtonian Laws of Motion, and let cars make instantaneous right-angle turns instead of all those expensive curves. Then can we do something about refraction of light and static electricity? No special reason, they just piss me off.

I have to agree with Frisbeeteria. Physics stink. Outlawing wasted energy would, in fact, BE a waste of energy. Think how much energy is wasted having to drive on the road. After all, the shortest distance between any two points is a straight line, but we can't very well go driving through buildings, now can we?

Such a proposal would also have massive implications for the environment: if all the overweight citizens of UN nations were made to exercise sufficiently to reach normal weight, the huge amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere as their lipid reserves were respired would accelerate global warming.

Second Law of Thermodynamics....

"In all energy exchanges, if no energy enters or leaves the system, the potential energy of the state will always be less than that of the initial state."

Also, contrary to your understanding, people who are more prone to weight gain, do not necessarily "eat more", in many cases they eat less. This is due to the effect metabolic efficiency has on caloric storage in the body. People who are generally more prone to weight gain, have highly efficient metabolisms, requiring less for normative operations... their bodies have a tendency to store more of the energy they intake, merely because they don't need to use it. On the flip side, those who are not prone to weight gain, need to intake vast amounts of energy to merely sustain their normal operations... Extremely inefficient metabolic systems.

The gist of all this, is skinny people are extremely inefficient organisms, so you will be outlawing them, according to the studies I have read on this. And I will be overseeing your execution as soon as you pass your resolution, for being an inefficient organism, which intakes far too many calories according to my standards, for what you accomplish

In a way, it's still a matter of waste - people with efficient metabolisms could afford to eat less than the average so that they maintain healthy weight.

should there be a punishment for someone that is trying to become effecient in their use of energy, neigh..but educate those in the way of reducing waste, initially it may cost more but the long term benefits and long term cost outweigh just a complete outlaw

Yes, they could... However, a person without an inefficient metabolism is a natural waste... And cannot do anything about it ;)

If we decrease the caloric intake of those with more efficient metabolisms, and convert all those with inefficient metabolisms into Soylent Green, we solve this energy problem. Let's say, we convert anyone who needs more than 1900 calories a day into Soylent Green, imagine how much they could sustain those of us, who need so little energy to function?

So who is going to write this Soylent Green resolution?

Is this A proposal for energy waste or a Proposal against fat people or is it a proposal against Physics or Global Warming?

I am confused.

We propose that the UN should take it a step further, and ban all energy.

Or was that meant to be a follow-up proposal for this?

I am confused.

Energy waste mainly, replace lighbulbs with neon tubes, coal/gas fired powerstations with nuclear (because solar panels are about 10% efficient and wind-things only work in a set range of windspeed) etc. But i think fatness qualifies as a waste of energy, fat reseves build up for five reasons:

You live in Siberia or on the Steppes and need it to stay warm.
You are a whale/seal (see above)
Starvation is a very real possibility in your year to year life (bear)
You consume more calories than you burn.
You have forgotten that your oral opening is bigger than your anal opnening.

As for global warming, making wasting energy would fix that in no time.

Your calorie-intake should be linked to your height and sex e.g: Male, 5'10", 2500 Cal. Female, 5'8", 2000 Cal

What's Soylent Green?

So a world-class track star should be forced to take in the same amount of calories as Mr. Joe Bob CouchPotato?

Doesn't make sense to me, unless you outlaw physical activity as part of this proposal.

Environmentalist whackos beware. I speak as the voice of reason. You cannot get rid of all forms of energy waste without doing away with energy all together, plain and simple. Now, the question becomes <Pause for effect> Do you want to live in the stone age or the modern world?

Does this mean I have to turn off the sun? I mean think of all the energy it wastes every day. Totally pointless!

I completely agree. I think, should this pass.. We should get a investigative team together to figure out a way to blow it up. It is completely useless.

My entire region is pretty much composed entirely of wasted energy. It's also home to the 1,305th most beautiful environment in NS. The thing you have to realize about wasted energy is that it goes off to some other place where eventually it won't be wasted. Such as Pojonia.

Although, I seriously doubt that you were serious about this resolution.

The Stone Age, of course. Back then, people didn't know about energy, and therefore didn't bring up proposals like this to the United... um... Caves.

Exactly my point, Narg. Waste energy will always be an unfortunate byproduct of the creation of energy to begin with. Going backwards, by forcing this makes no sense to me.

If it had been stated differently, I might agree with it, but as the resultion has been stated.. I cannot agree with it.

It is my opinion, that the delegate is looking for less polluting methods of creating energy, and wants to force the issue, which I can see as a problem in a world our size. My country's scientists are always working toward cleaner, more efficient methods of energy creation. But, as it stnds now, I cannot gaurentee(SP?) that we do not waste a certain amount of energy during the energy's creation.

I'm quite sure everyone here knows what was meant, they're all just making fun of the way that they said it. SKVM, I suggest you write up a draft proposal, keeping in mind why people were making fun of you here, word it very carfully, and post it in a new topic under a diffrent title because I don't think you'll be able to salvage this one now.
Nargopia
19-05-2005, 18:01
Have you read the title post? I'm not entirely sure Scum was serious about anything, and if the arguments presented in the head post are the basis for this proposal, no matter how it is worded, we won't support it.

People are 600 pounds? That's like, almost 43 stone. If such people exist they certainly are not in wegason.
