The resolution that I am attempting to repeal is at the bottom of page one of the List of UN Resolutions Throughout History (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/-1/page=UN_past_resolutions)

The NationStates United Nations,

NOTING that the resolution "DVD region removal" was based on the good intentions of the author.

ALSO NOTING that this resolution was poorly written, which reflects badly on this august body.

BELIEVING that this august body has more significant work to do than the regulation of a relatively insignificant business practice in a few member states.

CONFIDENT that those member states who truly have a problem with DVD regions can address that problem adequately on their own or in cooperation with their neighboring states.

REPEALS United Nations Resolution #5 "DVD region removal".

I'll vote for if it comes to pass, but I won't approve it. There are hopefully more useful resolutions to put to quorum.

I will support this proposal if it comes to the floor, and will also request that a Delegate or two that I know approve it. The resolution is so poorly written that it took me about a year to understand what it was saying.

You have my support and my approval. Best of luck.

I'll approve it. I can't actually help you get it past proposal stage, because I just started my own region, and there is no regional delegate. It is a good resolution you have there.

I appreciate y'alls support. :)

By the way, this is the first phase of my proposal submission process, which goes something like this.

1. Put a draft on the forum to assess support among the regulars.

2. Submit it and watch who approves it so as to assess support among the more active Delegates who regularly trawl the proposals list.

If it seems to have a reasonable level of support during those two phases, I go on to...

3. Submit it and mount a telegram campaign for delegate support to get it to quorum.

4. Watch as it passes. (Hopefully)

unfortunatly, i dont support this. if you repeal this because it is poorly written, then pretty much a good deal of the first 10 resolutions, and maybe a few after, should be repealed. i admit, that i am a newer nation (as resistancia have been here for about 4 months) but even i realise that there was a point when NS and the NSUN was young and this is the way resolutions were submited, and i stand by these resolutions. just because proposal/resolution writing has come a long way since then, doesnt mean that these need to be changed.

OOC: i have no f'n idea why they have regions on dvds in real life. besides the old PAL/NTSC differences, it seems to be purely business based, and with the introduction of region-free dvd players, it seems redundant anyway.

Yep. Unfortunately, I can only do so much by myself. ;)
