The Planet Federation proposes the following before the UN delegates.

The immediate creation of the United Nations Olympic Committee or (U.N.O.C)

This committee would be composed of all regional delegates on a new interstellar Olympic games between all Nation States. These games would serve not just as a form of entertainment but as a form of promoting peace thought the galaxy. Also as place for world leaders to meet to discuss political and non political matters of there choosing in a comfortable entertaining environment for galaxy leaders to promote there ideals and way of life to other nations.

You might want to look over a previous Olympic Games (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Olympic_Games_%28removed%29) proposal, which was removed from queue for rules violations. Details of the reasons are in the NSwiki link. Working with Committees is inherently approaching Game Mechanics problems, so you need to be most careful in your suggestions.

Hmmm... I may be leary... But then, maybe it wouldn't be so bad... Since it calls for no actual formulated creation as such... It merely creates a UN RP available... Without formulating any additions to the game or mandation of RP... Effectively anyone who is a delegate would be part of this "commitee"... So maybe it would not be necessarily harmful to the mechanics... As it really doesn't add anything, or mandate anything.... And the election process would be present already (in the nominal election of present delegate status)...

Overall, I would say it is a technical violation of that rule, while not neccessarily being a practical violation of the rule...

Perhapse you should get moderator ruling on it in the Mod forums...

I just realized that it called for "all regional delegates" to be on the committee. As all UN resolutions have the force of law on all UN nations (not just delegates), I'm pretty sure this phrasing would not pass muster.

I would suggest that you change it so that instead of having a committe of Delagates, simply formulate an independant orginization to run it. Also, specify that all nations, including nonmembers, would be eligible to participate, but would not be required to do so. I think that should take care of any chance of it being dismissed for rules violations.

Perhaps i misworded that this is not a madate enforceing all delegates to attend. It is similar to resoultion 50 that created the Space Exploration Committee it is ment for voluntary delegates to attend not all delegates. And if a delegate wants he can send a UN member from his region in his place.

I would like enough delegates to tell me they would endorse this so it can go before the enitre UN on a vote. But thank you guys for helping me with wording :)

The question then, is do we want a competition which is about the highest attainers around - a fully mixed competition, where the humans win what they're best at, the elves what they're best at, etc.? Or do we do what has been done in RL with male and female sports, and have separate categories for species?

I'm not really sure myself, since the second option would end up segregating the nations, as an awful lot are dominated by one species (whereas we obviously don't have that problem in RL with the male-female division).

Yes yes there would be some discretion and different sections to these games but obviously this is not a decision that should be made before we actully confirm that it will be a Un resoultion.

As though we are on this topic (in RL a kenyan wins the marathon almost every olympics) so therefore there would be catagories where some people would be better at than others but it is all in the interst of bringing the interstellar leaders together and them taking amost themselves while watchign these games so they can have a friendly enviroment to discuss matters of varing importance.
