Alcohol Fuel Alternative Proposal

Description: Due to recent increases in the price of a gallon of gasoline, and the detrimental effects the burning of gasoline makes to the environment, I propose that Gasoline burning automobiles be converted to burn clean, more efficient alcohol based fuels, and subsequently that gasoline be banned from use in automobiles.

Alcohol fuels are cheap and easy to make. All you need is garbage to create alcohol. Creating alcohol from garbage will deplete the amount of garbage used in landfills, making the environment healthier for all citizens to enjoy. And since humans are always making garbage, there will never be a shortage of the alcohol fuel, so the price per gallon of the alcohol fuel will remain relatively the same for long periods of time.

Because it is so cheap to make the fuel and it isn't a limited resource such as oil, the product will be cheap for citizens of their nations.

It is also fast and cheap to convert a gasoline burning automobile into a alcohol burning automobile.

Citizens of the world, I urge you to kick the corrupt oil companies off the top of the market, and replace it with this alternative fuel which is better for the environment, and easier on the wallets of all citizens. Thank you.

Simple Answer: No. It won't work.

Long Answer: It would take too long to transition and you're proposal has an instant ban of gas. Think about it. Many people have used gas for centuries and all of a sudden we are supposed to switch. The world economy would collapse unless a transition period would be in place.

Also take in account nations with other technology levels in NationStates. Some have early technology and thus are nowhere near an affordable way of doing this and some are so early in tech that they do not even have cars. Some nations already have other alternative fuel meothods while others are future tech and thus are way too advanced for this proposal and would be taking a step centuries back from their current level.

Others already have ways to get rid of garbage and thus would not be able to get the fuel from landfills and would eventually find it more expensive than gasoline. Yet others with large populations and heavy traffic would find themselves using more fuel than they can provide themselves, also relying on imports. As this technology advances, it would become less cheap and more and more people would be relying on imports to supply their legal requirements thus eventually making it just as expensive as oil.

As for the environment, there are a lot better ways for the environment that some other nations might already use and thus they would be forced to switch to a more inefficient way. Thus, this proposal would not be worthy of forcing on all of the nations in the United Nations which by passing as a resolution it would surely do.

United Nations Answer: We already have a proposal creating a sizable amount of hydrogen powered vehicles without forcing us all to convert entirely to a method of alternatives. (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=UN_past_resolutions/start=17) This proposal then could still be possible if worded more carefully, though.

Helpful Answer: I can help you reword this proposal to make it less forceful and more effective if you'd like.

Yuo wanna take my pruno and use it in CARS?!?

Teh hell with that! Pruno is the only thing that keeps me (in)sane!

There are much, much better uses for alcohol than propelling metal boxes.

i'd hate to say it, but the main jist of this argument is based in RL. we are having no such problems with fuel prices, and also there is the hydro powered vehicle res in place too

The only place gasoline prices has risen is in the real world outside of NS, which has no jurisdiction in this game.
