QUIZ: How many NS UN Resolutions Failed

This is my last one for today ... but this could be fun. Again, I'll make the results public, so try and answer truthfully. We are about to approach having adopted 100 resolutions (technically we've adopted more than this, but some were deleted), but often players wonder what happens to failed resolutions. The answer is that the game does not save them, but sometimes players save copies of these resolutions.

The following is an estimate of how many NS UN resolutions have failed. Feel free to poke around NS Wiki or the UNA Archives (or to ask around). Or just guess! :)

1) 0 to 5
2) 6 to 10
3) 11 to 15
4) 16 to 20
5) 17 to 25
6) 26 to 30
7) 30 to 40
8) 41 or more

First, NSWiki is a player contributed source that most people like:

http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Category:United_Nations

Poke around there. It will help.

Second, I've mantained an independent archive at:

http://pweb.netcom.com/~mierzwa10k/una/

HINT: the Ressumary.pdf might not be complete, but is a great for numbers crunchers. ;)

And, unlike the other one, you won't be getting an answer out of me. I misjudged the intent of the other one.

Its nearly Easter ... the intent of both is the same. While hunting for eggs seems like a silly thing to do, silly = fun, and sometimes you learn a thing or two as well.

Yes. And, sometimes, you end up having to revise what you thought.

I was thinking: If two answers have votes, it will prevent anyone from assuming that they just have to vote for the one already voted for. After all, if you can't tell which it is you have to rely on your own knowledge.

I just guessed. I had no idea.

Miki? Could I get the link to your UN forum?

Guessing is the point.

And, this is not the type of thing I could memorize either. I've not guessed since I started the poll, but if I had, I would have probably overestimated the number. :)

To be honest, I always find it interesting that we are so close to debating resolution #100. I would honestly hope that good or bad that it gets archived.

Excellent question. The Wiki Working Group is still trying to discover that.

However, so as not to spoil Mik's lesson, I will tell you that there is a direct link to the answer in the materials provided.

Passport Harmonization
From NSwiki, the NationStates encyclopedia.

The "Missing" Resolution

Passport Harmonisation passed the UN General Assembly in February 2004, but following the move to Jolt it was no longer there.

What happened to Resolution 46(a)?

* Was it swallowed by the mysterious Forum 7?
* Did it violate British / Australian / US law?
* Were the Mods sufficiently disappointed with having a proposal named after a wind-swept soda confection to quietly and discreetly remove it?

No one really knows. No one, except perhaps The Smoking Man.

Well, that was useful....

This has been an OOC post.

I used to know. I forgot though, and can't remember where I saw it.
Grr, must find...

EDIT:
Oh, I remember now, but I shan't tell.

It was probably deleted for using an "s" instead of a "z".

Made it hard to find, too.

Passport harmonisation
A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.

As the peoples of the world learn more of other nations the urge to travel and broaden cultural horizons has naturally increased. Border formalities are hampered customs officials finding themselves increasingly baffled by the variety of personal identification each nation requires. A UN standardisation initiative would see world citizens issued with documentation which presents personal information in a single format, easing stress and delays at Customs and Immigration facilities. Tourism generates significant revenues alongside the cutural benefits and UN intervention would stimulate growth in this area of each nation's economy.

Each nation would be able to present its travel documentation in a manner and design which reflects its own culture and traditions as long as it contained the standard information.

Because, after all, using the standard British/Australian/New Zealander/probably other countries' standard spellings is just so difficult.

[edit]Erm... that didn't come out right. Meant to be gentle sarcasm, came out mocking. Sorry.

Statistically, I am going to say more than 41 have not passed... Since, having been on NS, roughly 3-4 resolutions fail, for every 1 that passes (which would push the number to somewhere around 350 failed resolutions since the inception of the NSUN) assuming that ratio has not altered much.
