I have submitted a proposal for member states of the UN to fund global research into treatment and a possible cure for AIDS/HIV out of their GDP.

Any feelings/suggestions on the matter would be appreciated. :)

It has been done, and it was expensive.

Yes, and it also managed to criminalise innocent mortally ill people. I'd suggest a repeal and a re-submission of something else. The world does need it.

The full text of the major HIV AIDS resolutions is at:
http://pweb.netcom.com/~mierzwa10k/una/SJ.pdf

I'd focus on:

Global AIDS Initiative (#32)
Needle Sharing Prevention (#67)
NS HIV AIDS Act (#84)

Other resolutions related to HIV:

Increased Access to Medicine (#42)

Any time you are thinking of doing a new idea, a good resource to check is:

http://pweb.netcom.com/~mierzwa10k/una/UNSubjectIndex.pdf

If look up HIV under "H", you'll see all of those resolutions, which make direct references to HIV, listed. But if you wanted to look up "Diplomatic Rights", you wouldn't find anything. This is for two reasons ... first, the list is not complete, but might be the best thing you'll find right now. Second, the NS UN hasn't yet adopted a resolution on "Diplomatic Rights". ;)
