I dont do apostrophes.
N.B. It is considered polite to post the text of your proposal in the thread, instead of making us go searching for it.

Just did his other one too. Inter nat'l Space Shield Fund

A resolution to improve world security by boosting police and military budgets.

Category: International Security
Strength: Significant
Proposed by: LovAmore

Description: Let's Face it, the world is becoming a very technologically advanced place. With increasing technology, who's to say that those who are more advanced will not take advantage of those who aren't? Dondamor proposes an Internation Space Shield Fund, which will help fund research to construct an international system to protect nations from enemies from Space. As countries gain access to Space, we are all in grave danger. Crazy, Corrupt governments that harbor terrorists will take this as a new chance to promote internat'l terrorism. This "shield" is really a missle defense system. It isn't a shield, like on television shows. When a foreign missile enters the atmosphere above a nation, that nation should have the ability to protect themselves, even if they do not have the technology, hence the internat'l help. Here's how it will happen:
Funding:
Require nations to use part of thier budget to fund their own missile shield, if not, suffer political consequences.
If a nation can't afford a missile shield, the fund is international, so funds will go where needed. This system will put the world under a gigantic protection system, and expensive, but worth it, system. Support our proposal, our safety, and everyone's, depends on it.Umm, wow. OK. Moving on ...

International Space Shield? Although we of Super-power are futuretech (OOC: based off of Hard Sci-fi), we do not see this as a feasible opportunity.

Oh, and as a nation NOT part of the UN, it seems like a drain on all the other nation's funds.

Incredibly stupid idea. The problem is the missiles. If those are based in space, they'll be on platforms that will be detected and destroyed before you even have a chance to realize your nation is under attack. If they are on the ground, any ship with a half-decent targetting computer will be able to shoot the missiles down before they even get to the upper atmosphere. The problem is the chosen planet, which is basically a hub for the majority of known space traffic. A planet such as Terrator is more easily protected by such a system because of its location and controls over access.

Besides, attacking ships aren't the problem. One of my ships can easily take out just about any nation on a planet that doesn't have orbital defenses and a certain class can even take out the planet itself (through igniting it and turning it into a temporary sun).

The reason why a ship can easily take out planetary missiles is one reason: Atmosphere. At even the speed of sound, the missile is going to be leaving a massive wake behind it and drawing huge amounts of attention. At the speed of light, an unshielded missile tends to explode. Anything less than the speed of light or faster is likely to result in the missile being shot down.

Not exactly, the missiles to defend the country will be based on the ground in appropriate areas. besides, my proposal was revoked anyway. It probably was too massive a project that encompassed too many nations. LovAmore will seek the possibility of doing it on it's own. so you're right, stupid idea! lol

There arent enough resources in the UN to get this off the ground. Your also assuming that all member nations exist in the same time frame.

This is about as dunderheaded as the Star Wars project. There was little to no threat of nuclear attack. It was more on the lines of world wide paranoia, much as we have today. If we need to intercept missiles, we have rockets that do it for us. A "space shield" would require a gigantic amount of money, for a useless idea.

The CEA oposses the construction of a space shield, or any other kind of missile defense system, other than interception missiles.

This is intended to deal with invading fleets from space, not just missiles. My nation is a prime example of one that is willing to calmly sit in orbit and shoot you with giant cannons of death. And shooting my missiles is a bad idea, as they are impact-detonated and come equipped with near-sentient guidance programs (which is technology easily available to modern tech nations as well) and, with the latest models, a form of shielding to deal with space dust and small debris. And considering the type I prefer, shooting them down in atmosphere merely means the spread of destruction is larger. Such a setup is also easily rigged on nukes and is actually based on a nuke design.

Aye. Unitedia has a small, but reasonable powerful space fleet, although this is more because we are arms manufacturers for our region. the strongest ship we sell is the CORE Piledriver Planet Killer class ship...................

The strongest we own is the Liberty Command Cruiser, my personal ship..............

You might want to check the links in my sig and tell me how well you stand against numbers. I find most people don't do that well and are quickly overran. Most people don't realize my fleet is intended, when on the offensive, to be pulling strikes that don't require them to be in battle for too long and the ships begin needing to resupply after only a few hours. But by that time, usually all resistance is pacified.

Since 99% of the NS world doesn't have to worry about incoming missles, the UN shouldn't be wasting its time protecting that 1% with its funds.
