Potable Water for All

A resolution to increase the quality of the world's environment, at the expense of industry.

Category: Environmental

Industry Affected: All Businesses

Proposed by: Rockin Coolness

Description: Be it resolved that all people of the world have the right to potable (drinking)water.

The world's fresh water supply is becoming increasingly limited due: to pollution, a global decrease in precipitaion levels and poor water management amongst the majority of nations.

Being that all human beings need water to survive, it is necessary to ensure that all people have access to potable water.

There may come a time (perhaps not too far in the future) when nations will experience drought, natural disasters and/or widespread pollution which, in effect, severley limit the access of potable water to its population(s). If and when such incidences occur, the world's nations might find themselves bidding on what water has never been called before, an essential commodity. It would be egregious for all of humankind if water would one day be sold 'by the barrel.'

As such, it is imperative that all nations adopt this resolution by instituting the following measure in their own NationState:

- A ministry, institute or department within their governments that will devise and manage mechanisms (desalinization; the 'filtering' of previously dirty water that has been contaminated by sewage, industrial pollution, naturally occuring microbes; etc.) to ensure there is a 'reservoir' or 'store' of enough potable water for the entirity of their nation's population for a period of three months. This 'reservoir' or 'store' of a three month supply of potable water is necessary should a nation be affected by severe drought, natural disaster that would affect the normal delivery system of fresh water to its citizenship and/or an industrial catastrophe which severely pollutes the aforementioned 'normal delivery system' of fresh water.

The costs of this resolution would be borne by each individual NationState's industry and tax payers; albeit a small price - for without potable water; there would be no one to work in industry, there would be no tax payers.

1. A spell-checker wouldn't hurt; tpyos don't reflect well on the proposal.

ii. YGSM is on a tropical island. We already import large amounts of potable water for our daily needs. There's no place we could store a 3-month supply.

c) I don't appreciate fear-mongering in proposals. Statements like, "world's fresh water supply is becoming increasingly limited", "nations will experience drought", etc. detract from the proposal.

Vastiva will gladly export an iceberg to YGSM for their fresh water requirements. Or we can arrange for monthly shipments from iceberg-pure sources to YGSM at reasonable rates.

We also export oil.

Oh, the proposal? We have so many icebergs and so much potable water available, its not much of an issue here. So we'll see what others say on the issue first.
