FAQ needed

ummm.... yeah....like, why don't any of the "Everything you need to know" FAQs tell you the most obvious thing people need to know? What are the negative effects of each category? Like, the one FAQ states that helping the environment category hurts the business category. But that's only one! There are many other categories. What do the others hurt? Is it obvious to everyone in the world but me?

yes.

i mean, no.

i mean, what?

i guess a resolution's something of a crapshoot. the gnomes can (i think) override your judgement as to category and strength anyway.

if you post your proposal as a draft here, we'll all offer constructive criticism :wishes NS had an angel smiley:

It depends on what you mean by 'negative'.
Human Rights increase civil freedoms, but some may not like that. Moral Decency does the opposite by restricting civil freedoms, and there may be a well thought out reason for that.

you'd never convince anyone in my region of that.

Nope. Delete or leave are the only two choices. It's up to you to come up with the correct one on your own ... which is why forum posting and listening to experienced UN members is so damn useful.

"Put not your faith in Princes, nor in oversight by UN Gnomes." Your fate is what you make of it.

ok then, let me rephrase...

can some make a FAQ itemizing which certain things will be decreased when certain other things are increased?

I believe you're looking for this thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=282176). The Most Glorious Hack's first post addresses this in a section that deals with roleplay.

Found that thread already. It states that increasing environment decreases industry, and that increasing moral decency decreases social freedom. So there's two, not one, explained in a FAQ. I stand corrected. But, you'll notice that that FAQ doesn't state the counterbalance for any of the other categories, does it? So, does anyone know about the others? If you do, can you make a FAQ for it? or an OAQ (Once Asked Question), if i'm the only person who ever asked? Thanks in advance!

oh, i see, there are some more stated in the big descriptions underneath, but they aren't very clear, saying things like "affecting certain sub categories". Can someone make a clear cut chart or listing of categories, subcategories and the categories/subcategories they decrease when increased? I think it would be really helpful... and someone has to know it all, the programmers if no one else. or is it supposed to be part of the game that no one is allowed to know for sure and experienced players have educated guesses and sometimes try to share a few of them?

Point of order: That was written by Enodia and heavily edited by Cogitation. I believe my only contribution was adding the bracketed bit to the title.

As for giving exact explinations of which each category will do: this won't happen. Just as we don't reveal the coding for the issues, we don't reveal the coding for UN Resolutions.

You can get a general feel for what each does from the descriptions however. Those are pretty accurate descriptions, and about as good as you'll get without seeing actual code.

UN Delegate!?

Easy, You kill the existing one off, by what ever means (we prefer poisoning) then you usurp his family and lands while making sure you beat off any other competetition.

Or alternatively, carry the most UN member endorsements in your region. :D

But why put all your eggs in one basket?

I prefer to do both at the same time.

And then if you used plan B there, if you can access regional control as delegate, you boot the former delegate from the region to insure that you keep it.

Ah but if the regions founder hasnt given regional control to the delegate, then you have to kill him off and usurp his lands and family and then before ya know it you are knocking off members and usurping families and lands like atilla the hun!

That's why I said if you can access regional control.

A comprehensive guide to all things UN and UN-related would be more than worth compiling if someone had the time to do so.

God help me, I had a crack at it a while back ...

( Looks at hard-disk )

But bugger me if I can find the bloody thing, :p

Yes, Tuesday is right, its all a matter of time. And, I would also think experiance. NS Wiki has some good information, you know ...

In fact, there is a lot of quality Information that is more then useful enough lying about the place, here and there. Its just a matter of bringing it all together and editing it into a single entity ...
