It would be nice if you had posted the text of the proposal here, because we'd rather not have to go looking for the proposal.

But I'll be nice and post it.
Category: Human Rights

Strength: Strong

Proposed by: Mithandir

Description: if all criminals were shot they would not waste our taxes on jails and the up keep of them

if the doves amongst you say that it is against human rights then take into account that the amount of money spent on upkeeping the jails of Texas, would be enough to solve the 3rd world debt of 14 countries, and provide enough food for the poorest regions of africa

also im sure the victims of the criminals would more than be happy to see them get their commupance

thefore i propose that all criminals will be shot.
And as for my thoughts on the resolution, First off I think that this proposal is in the wrong catagory it seems to me that it belongs in Moral Decency. Secondly it refers to real world places which is illegal in UN proposals. And finally while The Rogue Nation of Flibbleites has the death penalty, which technically upon closer inspection of the proposal this proposal doesn't actually call for, it just says the criminals are to be shot it never says that the criminals have to be shot fatally, we don't believe that this is something that the UN should be involved in. Therefore, we will not support this proposal.

As Flibbleites has already said, this proposal is illegal, however there is a couple of points I'd like to raise.

You want all criminals shot, so that means that a shoplifter is given the same penalty as a mass murderer, or a fine defaulter is the equal of a rapist. I don't think so.

What about those wrongly convicted. It does happen. I think the millions of *insert currency here*, paid to the families of the innocent victims of execution will quickly cost a lot more than keeping criminals in prison. Not to mention the civil courts being clogged up with distraught families seeking justice for a wrongly convited, and state murdered loved one.

Also you said they must all be shot, ok, if something like this ever passes, I'll shoot my criminals alright, with a big healthy shot of vitamins on their entry to prison. Should save us money alright, by making them healthier, and not need as much medical care.

This proposal won't even get voted on by the UN members, trust me.

we are in agreeance with our regional representative, Flibbleites. this resolution is rubbish. people commit crimes for various reasons, and not all of them deserve to be killed. even if this was re-worded to become an acceptable UN proposal, we would still not accept it. if you want to do that to the criminals of your nation, fine, but we prefer to treat ours with human decency
