International Currency
A resolution to reduce barriers to free trade and commerce.

Category: Free Trade
Strength: Mild
Proposed by: Austria-Bulgaria

Description: This is a resolution for there to be a unified currency. If this passes there will no longer be a need to exchange currency. This will help strenghten commerce.
It may help to have one currency rather than several hundred thousand.

I think this is useless proposal that can't be enforced in the good case, or violation of game mechanics in the bad one.

While it is a great idea... due to the ability of a nation to name its own currency may make this illegal... Could get around that in 1 of 2 ways, as I see it:

1) All nations have their own currency, but there is a single international currency that international trade is conducted in.

2) All exchange rates are reconfigured to a 1 to 1 ratio.

As an aside, I don't really like either of these ways around mechanics, but with the current state of the game there's very few options for an international currency.

Don't worry, I doubt that you'd be ejected for just this one, because I don't think this constitutes a major offence (although I'm not a moderator, so I can't really say for sure). Read this thread for guidance before submitting a proposal:

This one is always helpful too, but from the point of view of style and content rather than actual legality:

The Confederated City States would be happy to exchange its Spice Melange into a UN currency provided it can be demonstrated that combining our economies would be benefical to the City States.

One way we might do this would be to take a survey of the economies of UN members ... say a random sample of some 200 UN members and then take another random sample of some 200 non-UN members. Compare and see how they measure up. If there is no significant difference, you government would be able to really stay any comments that we'd be hurting our economies. :)

The first step would be to develop a survey question and come up with a list of 400 random nations. If you'd like help, in a few weeks I'd be happy to conduct this survey for you. I think it would be an interesting question / answer.

This is a ridiculous idea. This sort of competition will destroy many country's economies and RUIN international trade.
