1. It is generally considered polite to post your proposal here yourself. Many people are only on dial-up modems, which tend not to like trawling through 15 pages of proposals. Anyway, I've found it for you this time. Just keep that in mind for the future.

Assistance to Africa

A resolution to reduce income inequality and increase basic welfare.

Category: Social Justice

Strength: Significant

Proposed by: Decartus

Description: Whereas: European Colonial powers took advantage of many African nations by violating Human Rights laws that we hold dear today by encouraging slavery and meliciously overtaking unadvanced societies for economic gain.

Whereas: The European superpowers divided Africa into their own functional segments and dispersed cultural and ethnic groups throughout the continent.

Whereas: Rival groups were placed togather into economic groups leading to the civil war and genocide that is now occuring in today's society.

Whereas: The European powers that are still existing today that damaged Africa and commited Human Rights crimes have a moral obligation to assist the countries of Africa.

May it be enacted: Those forsaid European powers must donate money to the ammount of ten (10) million dollars each every year for the next ten (10) years to the African Union, and provide humanitarian aid and assitance in instances of natural disasters or genocide.
2. This is illegal, by making many direct references to the Real World. These places don't exist in NationStates (well, I'm sure there are regions and nations with the same names, but they are not the same as the RL equivalents).
PLease look through the Before you make a proposal thread at the top of this forum before making any other proposals.

Don't be all harshing the europeans like that.

The arabs were the dominant slave traders in Africa right up until Leopold's time.

And it's about time to stop blaming outsiders exclusively for the problems of Africa, don't you think? Those are all native african dictators and native african genocidal mobs these days.

The europeans have already poured untold billions into Africa. The africans stole it or wasted it.

If Africa still needs billions, it's time the arabs paid their dues.

Gee, and here we Vastivans (descendants of Moors) currently own South Africa, Madagascar, Botswana, and Namibia. The last two came running to us after rampant mismanagement by the prior colonial power.

Yes, we will be very happy to take money from those in Europe. Send us your money. Send us your children. We are also very interested in restocking the Sultan's harem, so send us some intelligent, good-looking women with a profit motive.

On close consultation with our records, the Makatoan Confederacy is currently anchored near Africa, certainly within 50 KM of it. Can we have some cash please? Engine 5 just burnt out, and we need a replacement, if it helps, we'll blame the Europeans for it. ;)

OOC: unfortunately for your proposal, real life references are, um, strongly discouraged, to say the least. If you can redraft this proposal in less geographically specific terms, you may garner more support.

Best wishes.

It's going to yanked by the mods before you can say "James Callaghan was the last trade unionist to become PM".

I don't know about that. The Tsunami Warning System had a price tag around 250 mil and there were repeals for over two weeks complaining about how the warning system would bankrupt the UN. ;)

I figure it that when I was 3 years old, a penny was worth a heck of a lot of money to me. Then again, it was worth less to me at age 3 than a dime, since it was obviously smaller!

My solution is that if they want 100 million dollars, let's wire them something worth about 100 million dollars but do so in very big looking coins! They'll be happy, our budgets will be fine (though subject to silly repeals) -- I'd call it a win win situtation.

OOC = Out Of Character

Basically means the person is posting as themselves, not as the leader/representative of a nation.
