Perhaps you'd care to include your proposal?
Most people don't pay attention to M.O.S.S. proposals.

Wait, you already had a thread on this anyway, and we've already offerred our criticisms of it, all of which you have failed to answer. Most of your arguments are faulty and/or patently untrue. I'm sorry, but I cannot in good conscience support a proposal like yours.

And post a copy of the repeal you want us to support.
Argument: Religious Arguments

Euthanasia is against the word and will of God
Euthanasia weakens society's respect for the sanctity of life
Suffering may have value
Voluntary euthanasia is the start of a slippery slope that leads to involuntary euthanasia and the killing of people who are thought undesirable

Ethical Arguments

Euthanasia weakens society's respect for the sanctity of life
Accepting euthanasia accepts that some lives (those of the disabled or sick) are worth less than others
Voluntary euthanasia is the start of a slippery slope that leads to involuntary euthanasia and the killing of people who are thought undesirable
Euthanasia might not be in a person's best interests
Euthanasia affects other people's rights, not just those of the patient

Practical Arguments

Proper palliative care makes euthanasia unnecessary
There's no way of properly regulating euthanasia
Allowing euthanasia will lead to less good care for the terminally ill
Allowing euthanasia undermines the committment of doctors and nurses to saving lives
Euthanasia may become a cost-effective way to treat the terminally ill
Allowing euthanasia will discourage the search for new cures and treatments for the terminally ill
Euthanasia undermines the motivation to provide good care for the dying, and good pain relief
Euthanasia gives too much power to doctors
Euthanasia exposes vulnerable people to pressure to end their lives
Moral pressure on elderly relatives by selfish families
Moral pressure to free-up medical resources
Patients who are abandoned by their families may feel euthanasia is the only solution
Voluntary euthanasia is the start of a slippery slope that leads to involuntary euthanasia and the killing of people who are thought undesirable

Taking into account all these factors, King Django III proposes that the UN repeals resolution No. 43

King Django III - UN REPRESENTATION DEPARTMENT

I felt nice, so I dregded it up for him/her.

Wait, which morals are we using? We don't seem to be synchronised.

Also, Django, you do know that your repeal is flawed? You're offering arguments against euthanasia, but repealing the resolution won't make euthanasia illegal. It will simply remove all safeguards.

Ugh, ugh, ugh.

Yes, forcing someone terminally ill and in pain to endure it until they die naturally, which could take quite a while, is moral. And why yes, your morals are universally correct! We poor people in Kelssek have been living in immorality and sin for so long! We deserve to be struck down for our terrible crime of being so liberal and valuing personal freedom so much, that we actually allow a person to kill themself! That is wrong! People should not have control over their own lives, we realise this now! Save us from our sin!

*this pause is to allow you to cope with the heavy sarcasm*

Euthanasia is only going to be screwed up and getting dangerous if the individual nation allows it to be, and I would submit that in that case, it's their own damn problem to fix. And there are, in fact, ways to regulate euthanasia, two examples are "legislation" and "oversight". Perhaps you have heard of them.

The king has made a decree.

All I can say about that is:

"But I'm the King!"
"Psscht! I didn't vote for you!"

I would support a repeal, but only to replace the resolution with a better one that gave patients full control, because the current legislation is appalling. I cannot support a repeal which is so blatantly opposed to the rights of adults to choose their own deaths, and I cannot vote to place into the UN law books a resolution which invokes a religious belief as its first argument.

Wasn't there a whole other thread about this?

In any case, the implication that we should all bow to the will of a god I have never heard of, and that if you support euthanasia you are immoral is enough reason to not only not support this, but to actively campaign against it.
