Greetings to all! I have recently submitted a proposal to repeal alternative fuels, not for its environmental mindset, but for its uselessness.
~~~~~~~~
Description: UN Resolution #39: Alternative Fuels (Category: Environmental; Industry Affected: Automobile Manufacturing) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.
Argument: In light of its many controvertial and fallible assessments,
a. Hydrogen cars are currently mandatory in NationStates, and environmental damage is limitted to countries, usually caused no by fossil fuels, but environmental disregard.
b. There is no solid evidence of ozone depletion or global warming in NationStates, both of which would very unlikely be caused by near-obsolete fossil fuels.
c. The demand for fossil fuels is likely no where near as high as is made out to be, and each country is entitled to its own natural resources.
d. Many countries in NationStates are on other cellestial bodies and use more refined souces of energy, thus are pointlessly following this proposal
e. Romania does not exist and World War 2 never happened in NationStates.
f. Hydrogen has many impacts on our lives. It would be inefficient to carry the water byproduct in a car, thus it must be let out into the air, or onto the roads. Letting out a river (literally) of water on a road would have disastrous conequences, as would letting the water into the air. Let it be known that water is a greenhouse gas and could potentially, if let out by hundreds of billions, if not trillions, of cars, cause major climate shifts.
g. Alternative fuels such as geothermal energy, wind energy, solar energy, tide energy and hydroelectric energy are largely inefficient (and costly) and unable of sustaining large populations.
h. The Earth will be enveloped by the sun in about 5 million years, thus the claim of an infinite energy source through alternative fuels is very inaccurate.
Let it be resolved that this legislation is obsolete in our modern society, and only puts an unwarranted and unneeded drain on the automotive industry.
~~~~~~
I ask for regional delegates to look this over and decide whether or not to endorse it in the UN.
