Help Us Gnomes!

First, I'd like to thank those delegates that go through the proposal queue. As I was going through tonight, I noticed a large number of stinkers. Actually I should say, a larger number than normal.

This one in particular I think should result in gnome action:

Tsunami Making Machine
A resolution to reduce income inequality and increase basic welfare.

Category: Social Justice
Strength: Strong
Proposed by: McMario

Description: To test the latest resolution, and to please my own sick desires, I would like to see a tsunami machine created and used on some of the poorer, degenerate nations. This, would upease the snobby community would want splendid isolation from the rest of the trash that populates NationStates.

1. The tsunami machine would create waves in excess of 100 metres high.

2. If the tsunami machine works, then I will declare myself grand Kaiser of all NationStates.

Thankyou and goodnight!

Approvals: 4 (A Tortured Mind, Legnarennat, Domintora, WZ Forums)
Status: Lacking Support (requires 142 more approvals)

It easily violates a number of the "Before you make a proposal ..." guidelines: (1) wrong category, (2) joke proposal, (3) targeting specific (in this case only poorer "degenerate" nations).

Anyway, I figured I'd share this on in particular. There are others, including I'm begining to see inappropriate language being used in the proposals. How frequent is that?

I've been tracking the number of nations in NationStates and the UN lately. Up until last week, NationStates was in a decline. But it seems that with the start of many universities two weeks ago that the number of nations started increasing again. I'm not sure if they are related, but I'm suspecting that the school cycle may have some impact on the number of nations in NS and the UN.

Man, if I wanted to create something like that, I wouldn't be sharing it with the rest of the UN...

Just out of curiosity, under UN Mod rules, does this proposal's author deserve the honor of ejection from the UN? I think that any proposal of this offensiveness should violate enough UN rules to merit such a punishment.

As a side note, you may see a proposal in the queue entitled "Repeal 'End Slavery.'" Please read the proposal and visit the thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=393607) before you add Nargopia to the list of delegates requiring UN Gnome action.

The Gnomes have been alerted and will "deal with" this proposal.

Just, um... not right now.

Obviously I don't have the firm grasp of forum terminology I thought I had. What, specifically, are gnomes? Aside from those short things that roleplayers like to ignore.

I thought the Tsunami Making Machine was a particularly funny proposal.

*grin*

Ever wonder how your refrigerator knows to turn on the light just when you open the door? Gnomes.

Gnomes are the little creatures we don't see that do all our dirty work. In the UN, people submit inappropriate proposals. The UN Gnomes take those proposals and hide them.

I'd say I'd rather they take the authors of those proposals and hide them as well, but being a proposal author who was once issued a warning that would mean I'd be gone as well! ;)

(The UN Gnomes are one of the Most Glorious Hack's puppets. Lately he and Cog have been taking the most frequent turns at clearing the UN proposal queue. I am guessing that other game moderators do this from time to time as well.)

In any event, treat the gnomes well lest they might not stop at hiding proposals and go straight for nations!!!
