NSUN Charter

I was thinking, is there a need for the NSUN to have a specific charter, stating what the NSUN actually stands for?

The need is debateable but if you had one it would be voluntary and that would lead to quite a bit of frustrations and confusion.

Keep in mind that any "Charter" submitted as a UN proposal may not dictate what kinds of resolutions the UN may or may not consider. Only NationStates rules dictate this. Also, no proposal may dictate how proposals are passed. Again, only NationStates rules dictate this.

A charter would make it clear to players what the NSUN is actually about.

You can read the charter of the real UN here (http://www.un.org/aboutun/charter/), to give you an idea of what is being suggested.

Exactly my point. It is suggest that I read the real-life UN charter. So, does that mean, that we just assume that NSUN is the same as the real-life UN?
I copied it from the link provided by the Communist chap:
PREAMBLE
WE THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED NATIONS DETERMINED
to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, and
to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small, and
to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained, and
to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom,
AND FOR THESE ENDS
to practice tolerance and live together in peace with one another as good neighbours, and
to unite our strength to maintain international peace and security, and
to ensure, by the acceptance of principles and the institution of methods, that armed force shall not be used, save in the common interest, and
to employ international machinery for the promotion of the economic and social advancement of all peoples,
HAVE RESOLVED TO COMBINE OUR EFFORTS TO ACCOMPLISH THESE AIMS
Accordingly, our respective Governments, through representatives assembled in the city of San Francisco, who have exhibited their full powers found to be in good and due form, have agreed to the present Charter of the United Nations and do hereby establish an international organization to be known as the United Nations.
By the way, it is much, much longer. That is just the preamable.

Obviously, whilst there are rules about real life links, this has to be an exception. The NSUN is of course based on the real life UN and cannot be seperated from it.

The name is based on it, certainly, but it doesn't work the same way.

I wonder if it is better to say that the purposes, goals and principles of the NSUN are always evolving -- that these qualities are better understood by looking at the body of law as it develops -- than it is to say that we can (or should) make broad jurisprudential statements in the form of charter documents (which, generally speaking, are best agreed upon at the time an organization is founded).
A charter is a fascinating idea, but it would have to be very, very flexible. Essentially, the NS United Nations charter would be a clear description of what it is we do, but could not take a standpoint on any issue or particular moral view. In other words, it would be REALLY hard to write. It's probably better to just put our description in basic, understandable terms and sticky it to the top of the forum.

At least you're entertainingly uninformed.

Is my name in your book yet?
Because I haven't read the FAQ and have no intention of reading it - I prefer to deduce these things from the comments the veteran players let slip.

We'll put you there in the appendix if you like, because you're not "entertainingly uninformed".
