I'll see your national sovereignity and raise you two obscure FAQ references and one quote easily interpreted dozens of ways!

Edit: Post 500!

if you remember, i was one of the most active posters on that abortion debate. And I found the three way test mentioned there quite unsatisfactory to say the least.

And perhaps my execution of the interim ambassador was slightly premature... I find your arrogance disconcerting at best.

Perhaps we can discuss things along more civil and intellectual lines at a later date.

We still don't care.

He is an unruly facist. Thats reason enough.

Unruly fascist?

Now there's a flame you don't hear every day. Fascists are normally nothing buy ruly. Yep, some of the ruliest people around.

Oh wait, you didn't call him a fascist; you called him an unruly facist!
Is facist some kind of sexual allusion?

The only flame there was teh intentional misspell. You impolite and inconsiderate dictator. I had to assume he enjoyed being a fascist, so calling him a facist would be an insult to him and all facists really. I mispell it nearly everytime i type it. In fact. I say Faceshits.
Another note, Unruly does not mean organized. He is using the UN, and the votes of others and basicly saying "Everyone voted for it, so you must be wrong, get over it loser"
If you cannot speak to me in a respectable manner, without flamebaiting me. Please do not post at all. If action persists a notice will be sent to the moderators of your abuse.

By all means, please complain to the moderators. I did not insult you, I did not use profanity in a distortion of your nationstate name.

Please don't take it as a sign of disrespect when I say I have trouble guessing what you mean. Your comment about the definition of unruly for example - what exactly are you trying to say? Here (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=ruly) is the definition of "ruly". As a description of a fascist, it has the the twin advantages of being accurate and being a play on words.

Please don't take it as a sign of disrepect when I say my joke went over your head. You don't write like a person for whom english is a second language; no, you write like someone who just doesn't care about spelling, grammar, syntax, or coherent communication.

Are you two done with your little flame war yet?

Kamuras, I see a simple solution to the problem: My military will be along shortly to annex your nation. It will be added to personal holdings on Earth until the time of which that your delegate can stop making accusations without evidence to back them.

Oh, and calling delegates of nations that are much bigger and much, much more powerful than you names tends to lead to you being destroyed in response. My annexing you is for your protection.

It was a flamebait. In every way that was just an attempt to get me to argue back and flame you. I am reporting you now, due to a post in another topic. The United Nations forum is not there for you to call people Juvenile. This is not your little flame playground.

You cant annex me. I am a delegate. I have enough firepower to destroy everyone in the world(Im not kidding, my nations funding is going into orbital space stations, space fleets, conscription, and Nukes. I could blow everyone of you into oblivion with an order.
Note: If by annex you mean taking control of my nation litterally, password wise, this is illegal, even for a mod.
Never think that population equals power.

OOC: By "annex," I mean take it over ICly.

IC:

Ha! You can't even location my nation on a map, let alone blow it up. And if the fleet I have isn't big enough, I'll put in a couple of calls and get a larger one here.

While your nation may be older, I'm not relying on age, but experience. And the fact graviton shields can take a tactical nuke and keep going. Check my sig for my tech development history (at least, what got put in one thread).

Um... going back to the main question at hand...

I'm very on the fence about the wholer issue. Although I understand the advantages of legalizing it (for example, being able to monitor it and keep it to certain health regulations,) I am still just not comfortable with the idea of legalizing prostitution. While social programs would help a little to dissuade some from prostitution, keeping it illegal would be the best course of action to keep people from selling theirselves. Of course, I acknowledge that prostitution will still occur, despite it's illegality. This fact was the cause for this proposal in the first case. In conclusion, while I am generally very liberal in my voting, I find my self opposing this proposal.

You are all entitled to your own opinions. This is just mine.

Please note this topic is quite old and was passed long ago. That's after prostitution was originally legalized by the UN and then that law repealed months later. This has been legal for quite some time.

Okee Dokee. Didn't know that. Thanks!

1. The proponents of this resolution argue that sex is a personal matter and not a governmental one. By this logic the U.N., the Government of Governments, should not be passing resolutions related to personal sexual choices in the first place. This resolution, by being passed, tacitly approves of prostitution and undermines the authority of national leaders. If the U.N. is to stay out of personal decisions, it should promptly repeal those resolutions that tell nations what they should or should not allow to happen within their own borders.

2. Humanity is bound together by many common bonds. In particular, we are bound to each other by our kinship. We are part of the same species, we are all sexual beings, and we share common ancestry through the process of reproduction. What ties us to our ancestors and to our descendents is the act of procreation. Thus the family and sexuality are vital to human identity and community.

The act of prostitution, by monetarising sexuality and reproductive activity, is an insult to human dignity. The very act that ties us to our past, our future and our neighbours is debased by the venal influence of money. Sexual interaction should be contingent on love and compassion, not on monetary compensation.

3. Like many other national leaders, His Majesty the King of Taqlid believes that leaders should lead. Such leadership is not confined to the construction of balanced budgets (which are rightly delegated to a professional civil service) but to issues of national destiny and human values.

If leaders do not lead the people, then many of those people will be led by their base instincts.

Therefore, His Majesty feels he has a responsibility to guide our subjects to a more meaningful life. No subject of the Kingdom of Taqlid should be allowed to debase common humanity by reducing sex to commerce. His Majesty and his subjects deplore the permissive attitudes of neighbouring countries, which reduce the value of sexuality in our common community (the community of mankind).

4. In conclusion, the Kingdom of Taqlid calls on the U.N. to abolish all resolutions and clauses that undermine the national duty to lead on moral issues, and furthermore calls on U.N. nation states to cooperate in preserving our common human values.

P.S. The King of Taqlid notes the leadership taken by Noctaurus, UN Delegate of Gatesville, on this issue:

Not everyone shares your morals. Stop trying to shove them down the throats of others.
Only once you stop shoving your immorality down other's throats.
The Kingdom of Taqlid hereby relocates to the region of Gatesville.
