Another M.O.S.S. proposal.

Please post a copy of it here. Many of us are not include to search through pages and pages of proposals to find a single one. After many we have seen, it's disheartening some of the ones there.

Hang on. If it's legalised, then it won't be crime, will it?

Logic error.

Aside from the first part being really badly written (some legalized crime will be legalized?) there is a good reason organized crime is illegal - it generally deals with the stuff that is pretty bad (drugs, human trafficking, firearms etc). It also doesn't say what crime will be legalized, and what crime won't - will this be in the hands of the nations or will this be detailed further?

No doubt about it, this is a resolution that needs to be consigned to the dustbin.

A sensible proposal, considering that it comes from Sicily.

So, the cosa nostra would become a kafkaesque security bureau?

I'm having trouble picturing this.

My reading is that the proposer wants to set up some sort of assassin's guild. Not in favour.

Do I need to say anything?

The objective of criminals part of an organization is to make money. This proposal effectively forms hit-squads. Crime organizations generally only kill people because that person is affecting their profits. You see?

So we're bringing back Hitler's secret police, are we?

Legalize legalized crime? If it's already legalized, then it's not crime, and also you don't need to legalize it again.

This makes even less sense than the whole holographic library thing.

Am I actually reading this correctly? Legalize organized crime into a secret-super-police, hit-squad type group that can't violate anyone's rights or they'll be fired? ROFL

Someone has waaaaayyyyy too much time on their hands.

PRCC opposes the resolution on the grounds that it would cause damage to the control of the state and therefore endanger the political stability of the countries in which is is implemented.

In my opinion the proposal intends to permit governments to profit from organised crime. In RL we have/had examples for that: USA CIA, Italy Mafia, and so on. Corruption and Abuse will be right at hand. Don't open the door to hell, others did it before and it turned out bad.

how you get the idea that USA CIA is crime organization?
or the idea about the italian mafia as legal by the goverment?

anyway, this proposal is bad.

The CIA is not a criminal organization (cough cough) - but it has been linked to past criminal behavior and/or involvement, and it is definitely organized.

Isn't organized crime, by definition, illegal?

All crime whether it's organized or not is illegal, because if it was legal then it wouldn't be crime.
