What do people think of this as a resolution before I submit it?

I didn't know there was arms trading going on, what with the lack of a possibility of warfare. :P:P:P

It's just as much about stopping them being used on the people within the country that buys them as international warfare. Also, if we've had to ban landmines and biological weapons, there must be weapons out there, and weapons out there can be traded.

Well, none of the resolutions it would honour seemed to mind that issue, either, so suspending practicality for a moment.

Arms trading is an evil of the world that we have to resign ourselves to. In some ways, it is not to be discouraged - a parity amongst countries is unlikely to lead to war or jealousy as distinct differences in military technology do. If passed, it strikes me that this resolution would allow the members of the UN to have some oversight into the military levels of individual nations, as well as protect the world from the danger that comes with shadier trading.

Don't assume my comments to be anything against you. I honestly haven't even looked at your screenname yet.

Okay. Keeps up with the UN's pro-humanity stance.

CALLS for freedom of information concerning the international movement of weapons between countries as trade

There are certain cases when this information is best hidden, such as war.

BANS the trade of weapons deemed unsuitable for use by the UN (i.e. Landmines)

Doesn't stop me from buying them from outside the UN.

ASSERTS the importance for regular UN weapons checks and the importance of full and accurate arsenal itineraries being made available to the UN on request

Uh, how about "not no, but hell no?" Many of the weapons I keep stockpiled are more advanced than that of your average nation. Most nations are not ready to deal with such weapons and do not know how to handle them. Besides, I don't keep accurate arsenal itineraries.

ALLOWS the UN the right to oversee arms trading between countries to enforce restrictions made

Won't work very well. For one thing, the UN has to be aware of it. For another, the UN has no say over nonmember nations.

REQUESTS that responsible nations do not trade with volatile or hostile countries

Like many of the bigger nations in the UN?

HONOURS: UN Resolution #16: Elimination of Bio Weapons, UN Resolution #40: Banning of Landmines, UN Resolution #63 Freedom of the Press, UN Resolution #75 The Nuclear Terrorism act, UN Resolution #78 Repeal “Fight the Axis of Evil”

For some reason, it's become popular to cite other resolutions in a proposal lately.

Mostly a semantic point, but since the UN does not have a standing military force, it can not be said that any weapons are used by the UN. To be applicable this would have to be modified to (for example) "usuitable for use by the member nations of the UN".
