My proposal to ban all space-weapons

I wouldn't be much surprised to see this thing get purged pretty quick, but I need to get support for this proposal. I feel it is imparitive for the future of the entire world, and that we need to do this while we still have the chance. So I ask my fellow delegates to please read this (even just the first part to get the jist of it) and support it so we can get it into a vote, thank you.

Star Wars Attack of No One
A resolution to slash worldwide military spending.

Description: The effect of my proposal is simple, no weapons can be designed or built for intended use or orbit in space. Weapons also may not be stationed on any heavenly body, including but not limited to, the Moon, surrounding planets, etc.

In today's world of of one-ups-manship in the field of military weapons, most nations never think of anything but to build the biggest and baddest weapon they can to scare other nations or to make their citizens feel "safe."

Well it has now gotten to the point where the weapons intended to help make people feel safe are actually striking fear into them. What we have built so far and how far it will go in terms like that is an issue for another day, but as soon as we can we need to make sure that no Weapons of Mass Destruction are ever put into space, if we were to ever allow such a thing, it will undoubtedly culminate in our own destruction.

Space is exactly that, space. No one owns it, and no one should be able to strike fear or cause serious harm from there. If we allow this to happen, we might as well rename Earth "Ground Zero"

What about nations that happen to be located on other planets? This resolution would prohibit them (unless they aren't UN members) from having any sort of weapons.

As multi-planetary space-faring Republic; I refuse to disarm on the whim of a nation of arboreal simians...

The Republic will not be held at the whim of pirates and aggressive expansionistic empires who would not be subject to this rulling.

From the title, I can already tell you I'd rather strip-mine the Earth and sell humanity into slavery or as spare parts than to support this resolution.

:bites tongue:

I think the strength is inappropriate for this.

Description: The effect of my proposal is simple, no weapons can be designed or built for intended use or orbit in space. Weapons also may not be stationed on any heavenly body, including but not limited to, the Moon, surrounding planets, etc.

So how are you going to convince those of us who already have weapons in orbit, not just of Earth but of other planets as well, to go along with this? This is forcing those of us in the UN that are not based on Earth to dismantle the entirety of our weaponry. I'll tell you this: If you'll support one I make to ban weapons on planet, I'll support this suicide attempt.

As it is, I'm currently deciding whether or not to order my ships in orbit to use your nation as a weapons testing ground. Hope they aren't impatient and decide to fire anyway.

In today's world of of one-ups-manship in the field of military weapons, most nations never think of anything but to build the biggest and baddest weapon they can to scare other nations or to make their citizens feel "safe."

Most nations are also not UN members. Something to think about.

1) No proof of fear beyond the same fear of being invaded by superior forces as before.

2) The weapons are already in space, and some of them are big enough to turn Earth into a dust cloud. And those weapons are also very prolific among nonUN members.

3) Eliminating the possibility of weapons in space in the UN eliminates an area of defense that is very easily attacked. Since you seem to require a demonstration, I'll gladly blow up a couple of your cities from high orbit just to show you it's already out there.

4) Banning the weapons will culminate in your nation's destruction. After all, I have to dispose of them somehow and firing them into your nation would give me great pleasure. And I can probably get away with it, as the complete eradication of your nation and the large crater stretching deep into the Earth's mantle are unintended side-effects of the disposal method.

Space is exactly that, space. No one owns it, and no one should be able to strike fear or cause serious harm from there. If we allow this to happen, we might as well rename Earth "Ground Zero"

I lay claim to a rather large portion of space and have the fleets to back the claim. People may not own all of it, but people do own parts of it, and from what I gather those parts are a very large portion of it.

Oh, and you have to convince that nation that so conveniently put mine fields in orbit above Earth to deconstruct them. I'm sure that, as he's enslaving your people and my soldiers are helping him, he'll be courteous in telling your leaders he won't.

Before you reply with any nonsense about there not being any life on other planets, it is not my fault you could not be bothered to check the links in my signature or the two forums where space nations tend to post. Also, keep in mind this is not the real world and if I wanted to have a nation of dinosaurs (two that I know of exist), I could.

Here's a special one-time deal: For every endorsement you get, I will dispose of one weapon of mass destruction I have. I've already hinted at said disposal methods. As such, I will be keeping a very close eye on this to see how many weapons I need to dispose of.

This makes me wish I was still a delegate so I could give this an endorsement just so you could "dispose" of one.:D

Hmm. According to my records you are a delegate and you have endorsed. Time to fire a missile. I really hope he didn't need that city.

If you think I'm going to dismantle my fleet, you've got another thing coming. Unless of course You'd like to reimburse me for every ship and orbital weapon I posess? I suppose selling every one of your citizens into slavery would just about cover it. You'll have to sell them to Non UN nations though.
If you agree to this, I'm all for it.

Right now, even if he did sell all of his citizens into slavery he wouldn't get enough money. People don't work well when suffering from massive amounts of radiation poisoning.

Edit: So far, I've hit him with 13 antimatter missiles. I doubt he'll have a nation left in 20 NS years just due to radiation spread.

I'm approving it right now, so that you can make it 14, Don't blame me if I change my mind later.
