The Global Library
A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.

Category: The Furtherment of Democracy
Strength: Significant
Proposed by: Great Agnostica

Description: My Fellow Members,

I hereby propose a system to put all of our knowledge in. It will be called the Global Library. It will be Free and it will be accessible to all. The information that will be within the libraries are the News, All Books, Medicine Reports, Magazines, Laws of Every Nation and their Local Governments, and finally Biographies on some the most influential people during human history.

Now these libraries will be located in all member nations in their most popular cities. There is will be also a new Technology within these Libraries which is called Holographic imaging. A holographic image will appear of person and it will help you find what you are looking for and once you do it will turn into what you want you’re self.

For the people that live far from the library they will be getting another new technology that is called the Holographic wrist band. It is the same thing as in the library except it is for on the go. All they have to do is come once and get one or call and ask for it to be shipped (free of charge) to them.

Finally the cost of this. All of this will be paid for by the UN, as it will benefit all of humanity.

Sincerely,
President Caulfield
The United States of Great Agnostica

If something's going to have the title "The Global Library", it had better be written using correct grammar and spelling. Please use a spell-check and write this again.

Er, I just ran it through spellcheck and didn't get a single hit, save for a fragment. Neither the forum, nor the UN as a whole is designed to play, spelling-police to its members. Spelling errors (which don't appear to be present here) are best approached in a friendly, helpful manner, if at all.

Why tap UN funds, or even national funds from each individual nation?

If it's really a good idea, private corporations will build it.

In the Real World, we've created this thing called the internet, with little help/meddling from the government (rules and regulation AFTER it was already established aside). I believe it's worked quite awesomely with private funds.

On behalf of the Allied States of New Larson, I would like to support the creation of the Global Library.

One of the cornerstones of human development is the ability to learn from the past. Free access to a historical archive for all nations would only help to further our development and the Global Library appears to be an efficient setup for such a change.

As Tejasdom noted in his previous post, private industry would establish something of this sort when the need arrives. While New Larson agrees with this view, we also recognize that many world nations do not possess the economic means to contribute to the Global Library and as a result, the histories of many developing nations would be absent from all compilations. This loss would compromise the effect of any sort of global library and so it is important that the private industries which construct the Global Library be under UN supervision for the course of the project so that economically weaker nations are still included in any sort of compilation.

Well... the author was a little hyperactive with the shift key, but you're right, no need for people to get nasty about it.
