Description: The UN Resolution 'Stem Cell Research Funding' (Resolution # 82, Category: Human Rights, Strength: Strong) shall be struck null and void.

AFFIRMS the fact that Stem Cell research is a benefit to the human race.

DECLARES that while the merit of Stem Cells is great, required funding of an admittedly expensive form of research that is still in the preliminary stages is unwise.


BELIEVES that smaller nations with weaker economies should not be
forced to fund these programs at the possible detriment to other
programmes.

NOTES that the funding going to stem cell research could be used to fund other things, such as welfare, healthcare and HIV/AIDS research.

FURTHER NOTES the concern that the United Nations has in the past shown towards improving conditions in third world nations.

FURTHER NOTES that the amount of funding provided to Stem Cell research is not specified, which could lead to governmental abuses of said resolution.

REQUESTS that the United Nations strike null and void the resolution ‘Stem Cell Research Funding’ in the interest of nations lacking the money to so fund Stem Cell research.

Not bothering to pay attention to the wording of the resolution. It basically states that if you decide to allow stem cell research, you have to pay for it. Also, not all nations are in the preliminary stages of the research. My own has, due to our already advanced state in the area of biotechnology, advanced in it quite rapidly and is working on a cure to a powerful disease that makes anything short of flesh-eating viruses look pleasant. The amount of funding is not specified due to different nations requiring different levels of funding for it.
