Free Tibet

A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Human Rights

Strength: Strong

Proposed by: The Avenging Angels

Description: IN REGARDS TO: The continued occupation of Tibet by China. This is not the first time in history that China has occupied Tibet or that Tibet has been Occupied. This is no excuse for the ruthless occupation of the Tibetan peoples, and their country.

CALLS FOR: China to give Tibet back to the people, and to end the occupation that has been going on for 50 years now.

WHY? China has destroyed countless Buddhist temples and other things that are important parts of the Tibetan culture and their religion. China has pursued massive develpment of Tibet, and caused serious environmental problems for Tibet and its people. Tibetans deserve the right to govern their own country, and practice the religion of their choice. Chinas occupation violates basic human rights.

IMPLEMENTATION: China would have one year to two years maximum to return Tibet to the control of the Tibetans. The pullout of China from Tibet would be overseen by a coalition of nations and will be also be overseen by the UN. The coalition will be comprised of 10 nations including Japan, Britain, France, India, Nepal, Canada, Germany, South Korea, Russia, and Spain. This coalition along with the UN would have the power to impose diplomatic, trade, and other economic sanctions on China if the Chinese government does not adhere to the one to two year timeframe.

Orignally posted in Before you make a proposal... (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=282176)
4. Real-Life Proposals
George W Bush, John Ashcroft, Tony Blair and so on don't exist here. Feel free to argue for or against their actions on the General forum, but don't try to get the UN to sanction or promote them.
Thanks for trying, but this one is in blatant violation of game rules. Sorry.

You beat me to it - I was about to post that there is no such nation as Tibet in NS - but there is a region...http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi

It has been a while since I was involved with the UN. I had been on a rather long hiatus from UN affairs. Thanks for the reminder. If anyone cares I have another proposal up, and it is on Support Hemp Production. I have a thread started here as well for it.

Hold on. I'll free them.

:has four DLEMB10s target Tibet with antimatter missiles and watches with glee as the island is reduced to a cloud of radioactive dust:

Consider it freed.

Description: IN REGARDS TO: The continued occupation of Tibet

Who? I know of no Tibet, and I know of thousands upon thousands of places in the NationStates universe.

by China.

Who? I know not of this place either.

This is not the first time in history that China has occupied Tibet or that Tibet has been Occupied.

Who are these people? I do not know of them!

This is no excuse for the ruthless occupation of the Tibetan peoples, and their country.

Who? I do not know.... Non-existant people cannot be occupied by non-existant people!

CALLS FOR: China to give Tibet back to the people, and to end the occupation that has been going on for 50 years now.

I know of no "China" in the NSUN who we can govern in this capacity!

Please do not bring in fantasy peoples such as this. We have enough time meandering through all of the legitimate existing NSUN problems to deal with mythical places like "China" and "Tibet".

Besides the fact that it ignores NS rules, the proposition also counts out one of the main peace keeping forces in the world: the US. It is extremely rare for a UN peacekeeping coalition not to include the US.

C'mon, lay off, folks. The author has acknowledged that it's illegal. If you want to discuss Tibet, take it to General.

I am from the US, and I do not trust US peace keeping forces. Probably due to their occupation of Iraw, and Afghanistan,

Avenging Angels, the UN forum is for discussing NationStates UN business only. Political discussions relating to that other world are welcome in the General Forum, but have no place here in the NSUN.

I realize that and I apologize. Thank you for letting me know.
