Support the Resolution to Ban Clothes

For centuries, the rich have enjoyed special privileges. One of these is clothes. Clothes have been used to seperate people into classes, the rich get nicer clothes, and the workers get stuck with less fancy attire. Abolish this travesty by forcing nations to burn all clothes once and for all. If clothes continue to be worn, a cultural divide will continue to seperate the rich from the poor.
This resolution is currently on page 19. Vote for freedom from our man made desires and pressures! Ban clothes!

This has to be the most well-thought-out piece of crap I've ever seen.
Sir, I won't even comment further, because the language your deserve to be thrown at you, is not allowed on this forum.
Clothing is an art, you cannot deprive the entire world of a creative outlet. And what about the fact that clothing is there to protect your body from the elements, imagine the people in the north freezing to death because they can't even wear a bloody scarf!!!

I did that once, but for different reasons (never complain about the decency of what others wear in my nation). The problem is an ancient oone: If not clothes, the rich will find something else to differentiate themselves from the lower classes. All you'll do is remove something that helps the people out so much it has become a basic necessity.
So, arguement denied. I will not support or advise support.

Greedy Capitalist!
The majority of the people on this forum are such. So are a very large number in the UN. Including me.
It has nothing to do with Capitalism... monkey-boy.
It has plenty to do with basic protection from the elements, keeping warm, and other enviromental concerns that lay outside of your childish mind's understanding, due to its relatively ineffecient use of brain mass.
In 800 years, once your people have evolved past infanthood, we'll reconsider the things spewing from your relatively small minds.

TEKANIA!
Calm down. Now. You're getting too worked up over this.
Also - can you imagine what this would do to the textile manufacturers across the world? CHAOS!! MAYHEM!! UNEMPLOYMENT!! (etc, etc)

He's a communist, he doesn't care about the working class, unemployment, and other concerns like that.

Oh.
Fair enough then.
Does it matter that I care? Since we have a fair amount of clothiers and such like down my way?

If someone is going to call me a "Greedy capitalist", I will gladly provide them with appropriate epiteth's in return.
And trust me, I have done much internal editing to my thoughts on this issue.

Well, considering I define "space suits" as clothes and all of my prisoners are either executed or forced to work on orbital platforms, I would say you're forcing a change in national policy and causing thousands of deaths each year. If the glaring lack of oxygen in sufficient quantities to support life doesn't kill them, the radiation and extreme cold will.
This reminds me of the Chatterbox radio station in Grand Theft Auto 3 where the nudist calls in.
"Winter was invented by clothing companies!"

Yes. Good times. Though, most of the time when it played I was too busy running from cops to bother listening to the radio.

That's an insult? I always considered a banal statement of the obvious. Or a compliment, depending on who's saying it.

If the glaring lack of oxygen in sufficient quantities to support life doesn't kill them, the radiation and extreme cold will. For a nation which deals so extensively in space travel/inhabitation, your leaders seem to be rather unaware of the actual mechanics of being "exposed" in space. The environmental factor which most directly causes death of unprotected humans in space is the vacuum (http://www.sff.net/people/Geoffrey.Landis/vacuum.html). Radiation is a non-issue when your life expectancy drops to 90 seconds anyway, and vacuum acts as pretty effective insulation (although the evaporation of water can severely drop the temperature of certain body parts).

this argument is absurd! cloths? CLOTHS? what is wrong with the people these days? ofcourse u need frigin cloths rich people may distinguish themselves how they like and if a drunk in a flat with no money wants more suitable material to dress himself with, may he go and get a job!
