Support the Dissolution of Control Proposal!

It can be found on page 22.

This proposal hopes to limit many of hte powers of the UN. After scanning some of the recent resolutions I have come to the conclusion that the UN has far too much power and this power abridges, and often overrides the powers of Member Nations.

Some resolutions go against a country's religious, ethical, or moral values and the results can be quite detrimental to a country's progress.

I hope all conservative nations, and those with Nation's Rights in mind, will help support this proposal and it comes to vote as a resolution. It may not pass the resolution stage, but it is bettter to have your voice heard than to obey in silence.

It is generally considered polite to post your proposal here.
Dissolution of Control

A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.

Category: The Furtherment of Democracy

Strength: Strong

Proposed by: Catertopia

Description: This resolution hopes to:

1) Relegating the U.N. to a body that simply meets in time of global peril, and doesn't truly govern the world.

2) Forbide the U.N. from issuing resolutions that explicitly go agaisnt a coutnry's religion.

3) Limits the influence of all resolutions by setting up a 90-day limbo period that all,ows the proposal to come to vote in member nation's country. Thus, the people aren't forced into courses of action that they would normally be against.

4) What happens within ones' borders, is the member nation's problem, the UN may not legislate or take action without the member nation's consent.

This will help improve the world to where the people are allowed to rule their country, and not the UN.
This is illegal by declaring what the UN can and cannot do. It also goes against the rules by saying that nations may choose not to comply with UN resolutions.

Maybe we need an automatic telegram to nations letting them know what is and isn't legal in the UN. Have it sent out once every two hours.

maybe not every two hours (though it wouldnt hurt), but it definetly should be included in the initial telegram announcing the UN's acceptance of the country's application to join... could probably stand to put it on the application somewhere if it's not already.. (i dont honest recall if it was there or not... :( )

ILLEGAL
Argument:

Game Mechanics
"We should make it so that all UN Members can vote on proposals before they reach the floor", "We should be able to vote on 2 proposals at once", "The UN should create <multinational organisation>". All of these proposals propose changes to the Game Mechanics governing the running of NationStates.
I cannot stress this enough, You Cannot Play God Here. Your proposal may well be a useful change to the way the game works, and a few changes to the game (ejection of nations from regions, proposal search function) had their genesis in proposals. The bottom line is that they were not adopted because of the successful passage of a proposal, and neither will your suggestion be.

2) Forbide the U.N. from issuing resolutions that explicitly go agaisnt a coutnry's religion.

ILLEGAL
Argument:see above

ILLEGAL
Argument:(sigh)see above

Did someone forget that application they made, and that email they responded to? YOU ALREADY CONSENTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, it will give you a warning strike for proposing illegal proposals... If you're lucky, it'll merely be deleted, with no strike...

And you'll find that people still won't read the telegram, much like they don't read the FAQs and writing guides. :p

Forcing? No one forced you. You voluntarily consented to the application of such laws which may go against your ideals, if such are passed by majority vote.

Does this mean the UN can put Max Barry on trial for his crimes against nations? Cause that would be entertaining :}

I'm thinking we send it to every nation. They can't block the official TGs, so it'll be fun. Then when non UN members come to complain, we tell them its because of newbies who don't bother reading the FAQ or stickies.

Posts: 2 I want to see a PUNNS report on the probability of ever seeing this nation get a third post.

C'mon, Pilot. Start a statistical analysis of newb posting behavior as a corollary to the level of abuse they receive from their first inane post. It's got to be quantifiable – want to give it a shot?

How so? The only resolution I can think of that you might be referring to is Rights & Duties, and as Frisbeeteria, the author of that, will tell you, it doesn't do anything like illegalise resolutions which contravene religious dogma.

<sigh> You know, if you even just changed 'illegal' to 'immoral', or 'unjust', or something, then you'd at least be able to defend your position in some way. Also, you might consider taking a look at one of the several threads currently floating around that deal with National Sovereignty and the UN.

Forcing a nation to go against "religious rules" is not against UN Rules. Those rules are a matter of national soverignty, and as such became fair game when you clicked "Join UN".
