Global Weapons Amnesty Day

A resolution to tighten or relax gun control laws.

Category: Gun Control

Why just one day?

I dunno...

Someone else made a similar but badly worded proposal and I am just redoing it.

If this fails I'll probably repropose it at some point with a provision for the day to reoccur annually. Also, a conservative replied to my telegramming with a complaint that the resolution cast owners of illegal weapons in a bad light. That will also be fixed in the next version of the proposal.

How do you expect to defend your proposal with "I don't knows?"

If this fails I'll probably repropose it at some point with a provision for the day to reoccur annually.

What I was saying was is what's the point of having just one day? Why can't their be some sort of amnesty everyday?

Also, a conservative replied to my telegramming with a complaint that the resolution cast owners of illegal weapons in a bad light.

If any weapons were being turned in, I'd want it to be anonymously; seriously, how many national leaders do you know are going to want to admit they have "secret" WMD?

It's my first proposal. I don't like coming on too strong.

What I was saying was is what's the point of having just one day? Why can't their be some sort of amnesty everyday?

Well, if you had full amnesty then anyone could own illegal weapons without fear of punishment. If they got caught they just say they're turning the weapons over to the government, and no more problems.

If any weapons were being turned in, I'd want it to be anonymously; seriously, how many national leaders do you know are going to want to admit they have "secret" WMD?

This is supposed to be directed at private individuals with weapons that are illegal in the country within which they are.

And also, what I invisioned is that illegal weapons would be deposited during the night in a pile in front of the state offices and then shipped to the UN the next day.

If you want more anominity, perhaps we could discribe a system whereby any citizen could inform his or her government of the location of illegal weapons. The weapons would be picked up and destroyed with no investigation whatsoever of the source of the message or the weapons themselves. It would be assumed that the weapons would be placed in a location not belonging to their owners or in a public place.

I don't see anything wrong with this.

It's been done for slightly longer periods in my RL country.
