Category: International Security
Stength: Moderate
Proposed by: Celow

Description:
Any lethal weapons will be exteriminated from all countries' police force and preferably replaced by powerful Tranquilizer guns able to put someone to sleep within seconds. Of course this will require some more money.

RECONGNIZES the right for any country to not have a police force,

DEFINES "polce force" as any people at the command of government used to try to mantain order limited to within the country,

COMMITTED to putting an end to the death of innocent people by police thinking they are in a death situation which was actually something such as a toy gun,

ACKNOWLEDGING that the police force could use any weapon as long as it is not lethal,

DEFINES "lethal weapons" as any weapon causing death to over ninety-nine and five tenths percent (99.5%) of people hit with it,

FUNDED by the government of the nation by whatever way it chooses to make money,

NOTES that a tranquilizer gun has a small chance to fail and if so police officers could still use any other non leathal objects such as bats, laughing gas, ect..

ACKNOWLEDGING that the country will not be responsible for citizen's death by the tranquilizer guns or any other non-lethal weapons by the police force unless obvious abuse happened,

DEFINES "obvious abuse" such as more than five tranquilizer shots, at least three witness reports that the police officer acted too cruely to the criminal, or self confession of the officer/s.

NOTES that police officers could shoot now ask questions later more freely instead of waiting for danger to strike

Guns or any lethal weapons will be exteriminated from all countries' police force and preferably replaced by powerful Tranquilizers able to put someone to sleep within seconds. Of course this will require some more money.

Tranquliziers? Why exactly? How would this be funded? Who would be in charge of testing this idea out?

DEFINES "polce force" as any person or people at the command of government used to try to mantain order,

So, the leader of a country, the military director, the military itself, the local authorities maintaining order - all those not normally classified as police are considered police for purpose of your proposal, correct?

COMMITTED to putting an end to the death of innocent people by police thinking they are in a death situation,

But what happens when a police officer is in a situation that could take their life or the lives of others? They have no real means to stop that situation immediately if the tranquilizer fails.

ACKNOWLEDGING that the police force could use any weapon as long as it is not lethal,

DEFINES "lethal weapons" as any weapon causing death to over three quarters of people hit with it,

Why 3/4? That seems to be an awful lot of leeway. I'd want something that would cause death to less than .05% at the minimum.

The elimination of firearms in the police force although a worthwhile, and accomplished goal to the citizens of Snoogit is not something that we feel can be imposed on all the member nations of the UN.

Care to elaborate that point?
