Repeal "The Eon Convention on Genocide"
A proposal to repeal a previously passed resolution

Category: Repeal
Resolution: #83
Proposed by: McPlace Land

Description: UN Resolution #83: The Eon Convention on Genocide (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Strong) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: The extermination of any entire group, even if morally unsound, violates the right of free speech and public opinion.

Approvals: 1 (WZ Forums)

Can the author of this document please explain what in the hell he is talking about?

Because, he is either:

1. failing to understand the EON Convention on Genocide resolution.

-or-

2. trying to argue "genocide" is a valid form of "free speach" and "public opinion"...

Based on the proposal I'd "guess" this is more what is being suggested, but you are completely right, this justification really should be explained further.

Hmmm...if you talked them to death, I suppose it could be a free speech issue. It would be sort of ridiculous, but this is NationStates, after all.

My reading is that the repeal author simply doesn't understand and/or has completely misread the Eon Convention.

How is killing someone supporting free speech? Killing someone would obviously restrict who gets to talk, don't you think?

I agree...this is entirely ridiculous, is the author saying that the Nazis had every RIGHT to kill 6 million people for their own needs? If I killed 10,000 people because they had the same shoes as me, could I argue that it was MY right to free speech, and I was expressing my distaste of them wearing the same shoes as me by KILLING them? I think not.

The person who wrote that probably took one look at some of the points of the Eon Convention and made assumptions, and somehow got out of it that it took away free speech. I don't think many people are going to agree with that at all.

And whats with the part at the end, "violates the right of public opinion"?

Are you saying that if everyone took a vote to kick a paticular group out of the US or even kill them, I suppose, should be allowed? Please at least come up with reasons to repeal this resolution THAT MAKE SENSE.

(I hope that wasnt taken as a flame, just trying to point out the ridiculous points the repeal makes. )

?

I think I should get more sleep. I really have no idea the message I was trying to get across.

Sorry :}

You have unwittingly announced my government's plan for Multi-versal Domination ... to simply talk all other national leaders to death.

For that you shall be sentenced to sit in the comfy chair!
