UN Security Council

OOC: I started a thread like this before but it was lost and appearently there weren't many posts on it.

My main question in this thread is if there is a current UN security council. If there isn't then I would like to form one. Not a huge one, but rather, a group of experienced and devoted gamers that will enforce the resolutions of the UN.

No, there isn't a UN Security Council.

If you wish to form one, then do not try it as a proposal. It would class as a games mechanics proposal, and would be deleted.

I'm not really sure what it is you want such an organisation to do. Enforcing resolutions is already carried out by the game itself. If you just want to discuss proposals and resolutions, that can be done here or on an off-site forum.

OOC:
Unfortunately what you request would constitute a change in the mechanics of the game. In other words program code will have to be written in to the game to make it happen and as such proposals such as this are deemed illegal.

In addition, should you choose to RP this idea, I doubt it would have any validity since you cannot force NS nations to participate in any RP nor can you do so through a proposal.

The NSUN has existed since its inception without a Security Council and does not run like the real life UN. It is run by the members (you, me everyone else) and resolutions are voted on by all members. If the majority pass a resolution, it is implemented.

May I respectfully request you read the sticky threads in this forum, which is an excellent resource for both information and the rules guiding the NSUN?

there would be no changes in the code or the rules. It would simply be a group of devoted players who will watch for major violations. Then the large council will all pitch in to keep the reolution's laws are enforced by using the necissary actions.

I guess you can argue that the delegate endorsement stage that every proposal has to pass through is already like a security council, in some sense.

OOC:
The only way to do that would be to RP the council as I previously suggested and in NS, RP outcomes can only be applied to those nations who participate in the said RP. What you are asking here is that your RP’d ‘Security Council’ will have jurisdiction over all UN members, which is against RP rules, because not everyone is choosing to participate.

I would strongly urge you to get a handle on the rules of this game, which can be found in the sticky threads both here and in the UN forum and the Nationstates forum.
