Are there any people, specifically delegates who would support a UN proposal creating a Global Caffeine Day? I was thinking Sept. 3rd.

I won't. Pointless IMHO to have such a frivolous day. If people want to have a holiday like that, they can have it in their own nations.

I think we need less chaos these days...and face it...several billion people after 3 vinte triple-shot mocha lattes would not benefit us the slightest...though it would be funny to watch :D

Can't we test that? Please?

I doubt you'll be able to collect 100 endorsements without an extremely aggressive telegramming campaign, and even then your proposal might follow the topless women "bare breasts" proposal into the ether.

A better solution might be to see about eliminating tariffs on caffeine (Free Trade) or to legalize caffeine consumption (Recreational Drug Use) -- both of which are still going to be very hard battles to get UN Delegates to take seriously.

For the record, I tried dragging an Alcohol Tariff Reduction proposal to the UN, but it didn't break the 100 endorsement level.

p.s. now if you wanted to talk about adopting the owl as the official animal of the UN, now that is something my nation would support. ;)

Nah; that's about as ridiculous as "Eat Your Teddy Bears Day." It serves no point. I recommend you focus on other issues.

I chose a random date, there is absolutely no significance to it.

The problem is that September 3 is one of Enn's (admittedly many) public holidays. We like public holidays in Enn. We are always on the lookout for more. And if Global Caffeine Day was held on that day, then we wouldn't get an extra day off.

To assist with Global Caffeine Day UN members resolve to lower tariffs on Caffeine and Caffinated beverages to no more than 3% on the dollar.

Well here's a very quick rough draft as I am late for some reservations at my favorite restauraunt, be back soon,

You have to be a UN delegate to endorse legislation, if you aren't a delegate telegram your delegate until s/he endorses it

To assist with Global Caffeine Day:
UN members Resolve: To lower tariffs on Caffeine and Caffinated beverages to no more than 5% on the dollar. All Caffeine exports will not be taxed by the export nation. The UN will also create a tax of .001% of every dollar on Caffeine order to help fund trade programs that will promote and sponsor Global Caffeine Day

Well here's a final draft, I will submit it to the UN about 2 or 3 tomorrow morning, if you have any thoughts please let me know!

And there we have it, all that is wrong with the Nation States UN, it has been taken over by miserable folks who can't have any fun. Lighten up! have a laugh, it is a game. Bahgum will happily vote for a well written proposal to dedicate a day to something fun. Why stop at this suggestion? Lets have an international smile day, a chocolate day, hell make that one a week.
Fun guys, it's out there.....

But that's not fair to the growers and producers of other products, who won't sell as much when people are buying the extra caffiene!

If you're seriously interested in promoting Free Trade- which obviously includes all caffinated products obviously, thus allowing your nation to more readily have a national-caffine day- then you might be interested in checking out

for details of a Global Free Trade Act.

If you're a delegate you're welcome to add your support, and if you're not then bug your delegate until they back it *grin*.

Thanks to the support I have gotten so far, I will send the proposal to the UN. If this proposal passes we just might use Bahgum's idea and create other "days"

Well, here's an update for all those who care, Last time I checked we had 9 delegates who had approved GCD so with a little luck we might be able to pass it if we get a lot of people who sign it as it gets closer to the top of the list

Just so you know, you could probably get nine approvals for a proposal requiring all UN delegates to jump off a 100 story building into a damp sponge.

There are a few folks who approve every single proposal, and others who revel in the silly and illegal. I wouldn't do any handstands over nine approvals. It still takes 141 to get it to the floor.

Im in favor so long as we're allowed to consume vast amounts the rest of the year too

That was my point. Would anyone support this legislation if we changed the product from Caffeine to another basic yet currently minor resource?
