Ban On Land Mines

A resolution to restrict civil freedoms in the interest of moral decency.
*

Category: Moral Decency

Strength: Significant

Proposed by: Largent

Description: For years land mines have been planted all around the world. These horrible weapons cost more to plant than remove so when war breaks out in many poorer countries mines are planted and never removed.

For years to come millions are killed and mamed every year. Innocent civilians become victims. To prevent these horrible act we must ban mines once and for all.

While this is a small step towards an improved world it would help less fortunate countries after rebellion and war.

I could have sworn... ah, here it is.

Banning the use of Landmines

A resolution to slash worldwide military spending.

Category: Global Disarmament
Strength: Strong
Proposed by: Abrizza

Description: All nations are advised that landmines are cruel and unnecessary devices to civilian populations of nations around the world.

These weapons indiscriminately maim and kill civilian targets.

When conflicts end, landmines pose a serious threat to farming and render large portions of land unuseable. The expense and difficulty of removing landmines after hostilities cease means that farmland and other areas might never be useful to populations for any enterprise.

For this reason the immediate banning of the use of landmines in conflicts carried out by UN counties is called for.

Votes For: 14603

Votes Against: 4967

Implemented: Sat Dec 6 2003
Make sure you check the passed resolutions list for future proposals, please.

Why, oh why, must I do this kind of thing OVER and OVER again... hmmm? Care to answer me that?

Please, before you go to all the hassle of writting a proposal, and then slapping it into the UN hall, to waste our time; please READ the existing NSUN enacted legislation, they can be found here! (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/30102/page=UN_past_resolutions). You may find Resolution #40 "Ban the use of landmines" fairly interesting...

(sigh)

The laziness of some people...

I don't think that was very appropriate. For one, you aren't the master of all things United Nations and a thru & thru search of your records barely came up with anything resembling you having to instruct new players on past U.N. resolutions. We don't need your flaming of unexperienced players on the forums, especially since the poster before you disposed of the situation with great courtesy.

In short, stop scaring off players who are actually making an effort to play instead of running around the International Incidents forum screaming "I NUK I!!!!! ALL UR PPL DAED!".

End of rant.

Flamming?

For one, maybe you should learn to read the time indexes on posts, you will notice they are within a few minutes of each other.

I did not flame, unless calling someone lazy for not reading NSUN resolutions before writing new ones (which is common sense) is classified as "flamming".

If you want to see flamming, you would have to see all the things I've failed to mention in this post...

Yes, I have.... any responsible rep would. There are only 82 of them at present... It's not as if it takes hours just to familiarize yourself with gist of each of them.

Well I'm not a delegate so I have no intention of familiarizing my self with all 82 resolutions and what they say. Either way this thread is dead so you can stop posting.

Don't be surprised, then, when we turn around and point out cases where something is illegal.

People...people! Sit in your corners and stop this! Stop this before this becomes a flamefest and the iModBomb is dropped.
