Survival of the fittest I say!! The sick, dying, defective, diseased and aged are only a burden on society. Could be the single biggest wast of funds in the history of the world

that's not true, these people can, in most cases, be helped to lead normal un-society burdening lives.

If insurmountable evidence was shown undoubtably confirming this research as beneficial let someone present it!!!!!!!!

Yes, before we can conduct research to see how useful something can be, we need to proove (without research) that the research is needed.... Wow, if this was adopted; we would never accomplish anything... How very laurinian of you....
Please report to the NSUN library and fill out form ID-10-T

Lets not kid ourselves. Private sectors involved in such research are widely prevelant. I assume u would assume this. If not u might wish to switch to a different shade of rose colored glasses my friend. This clearly not a case of jumping from the stone age to the nuclear age. How very naive of u!!!

The 'prevelency' of private sector research is not the issue here; since your proposal is a complete banning of the research into this endeavor (for reasons which seem to ellude everyone, including you).
I know of research, and we conduct such, because it shows great promise for the future of humanity in general (and great profit potential). Since the research shows much future promise (an issue that is presently NON-DEBATEABLE), banning it is utter stupidity.

Retraction of move to ban stem cell research
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been swayed by the lively debate and hereby change my stance and vote on this issue. I will now rapidly commence proceedings to introduce a new proposal for the advancement of clone research

Stem cell research will bring the cure for alot of diseases like: Parkinson, Alzheimer... and others. Those who are against stem cell research are just religious fundamentalists who just won't accept the fact that there is a future.

I would like to support a change in the referendum to allow support of adult stem cell research, and outlaw embryonic. Adult stem cell research has been proben over the last twenty plus years to be quite effective. While on the other hand embryonic stem cell research has had no real effects other than cancerous tumors in test clients. There are quite a number of cases of restoration of mobility, feeling and even partial paralysis reversal with the use of adult stem cell therapy.

Actually, with all do respect - this is completely not true. On so many levels, really.
Embryonic stem cell research, or rather - stem cell research in general - has nothing to do with finding a cure. It's purpose is to make the quality of life better for people with such disabilities - but it is not a cure by any means.
It is that very reason that there is no cure, that stem cell research is becoming implemented. I guess you could consider it a cure - but really it isn't.
Also, as for the 'religious fundamentalists' (chuckles), now we're just generalizing aren't we?
"Oh they're all just religious fundamentalists!" :p
I find this funny because, I am not a religious fundamentalist - not even close. But I am against embryonic stem cell research simply because:
1.) I recognize, as science does, the human embryo is a human life. Although the debate still rages about whether or not it is a 'person', even if it is a 'human life'.
2.) I recognize, as science does, that adult stem cells can be reprogrammed to be just as potential as embryonic stem cells.
3.) It doesn't make sense to me that we must take a human life in order to make the quality of life of another person a bit better (once again, especially when adult stem cells can be used).
I'm not a religious fundamentalist - I'm a common sensalist. lol.
