Don't Wait! Resign From the NSUN Today!

Are you upset because of the NSUN violating your national sovereignty and meddling in your domestic policies all willy-nilly? Do you post long or short diatribes in the UN forum about how the UN should stop walking all over you? Do you consistently worry about the liberal tendencies of the NSUN? If so, I have the perfect solution!

Go to the UN Page (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=un) and resign now! You'll feel so much better! You'll be free, free at last, free as the wind blows! Go now! This offer is one you should take advantage of immediately.

If you want to leave the U.N. but fear that you will be decreasing your region's security by doing so (especially Pacificans), you can always make a puppet so you don't have to worry about the U.N. screwing your nation up and you can still contribute to the security of your region. So resign today!

Oh, grand idea Texas. Let's chase as many large nations as possible out of the UN, so that way nothing will stop them from enslaving their people and tortuing homosexuals to death. WTG, moron.

If someone chooses to do something outside the UN aegis, it is entirely their choice and their responsibility for the results is theirs and theirs alone.

Good for you Texan Hotrodders! This campaign will get rid of all the non liberals in the UN, and we'll have a liberal democratic paradise. :p

But that would make life a bit boring wouldn't it.
The only way you can hope to change the UN is by being in it, unless you're jumping ship.

That's so incredibly encouraging to me...

But that would make life a bit boring wouldn't it.

It already is. I don't see many conservatives with good debate skills just falling out of trees around here. Greenspoint is no longer active in this forum, and Kwangistar never comes around.

Which is why I'm on my second U.N. puppet... :p

I *kind of* did just that...I was tired of the UN screwing over my tax rate so I just recreated the nation and left my UN nation ("RomeW") as my UN puppet. I still consider myself a part of the UN though...I just don't have my main nation in it.

Not quite perfect; the only way to stop the UN from invading national sovereignty is to improve the proposals and eliminate the ones that do this exact thing. Not being a UN member prevents action, which is needed, to change the body.

Hey, it is an advertisement, not a treatise called "Sovereignty and the NSUN". :p

Texan Hotrodders, I have but one question:

...all willy-nilly...

Are you really from Texas?

I lived there from late childhood until early adulthood. So basically, Texas had the greatest impact on me. Why do you ask?

Well, "all willy-nilly" isn't exactly something I'd expect a Texan of saying. It's just so...not-Texan.

I watched the Steve Harvey Show far too often. So sue me.

Bad Proposals
A resolution to restrict political freedoms in the interest of law and order.

Category: Political Stability
Strength: Mild
Proposed by: Texan Hotrodders

Description: We, the members of the splendiferously august body known as the United Nations, do hereby enact the following:

NOTING that there are many crappy proposals in the queue.

FURTHER NOTING that this impairs the proposal system's functioning by making Regional Delegates waste time reading proposals that are unworthy of conideration by the UN, contain game mechanics violations, and are proposed under an inappropraiate category.

SUGGESTS that all UN member states read the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) and the Stickies in the UN forum, so as to prevent themselves from submitting bad proposals.

URGES member nations to remonstrate with the member states who are not in compliance with the above suggestion.

Approvals: 2 (Ferdistan, Jolly People)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 139 more approvals)

Voting Ends: Mon Nov 29 2004

:has egg on his face:

I honestly thought this was just a protest thread against bad proposals and people's complaints. But he made an actual proposal?

I agree. It won't reach quorum.

It would be funny if it did...but I'm not sure if the moderators will look too kindly at it though.

EDIT- Although, looking at it, the proposal does not do much, so maybe it would stay.

Hell, I'd support this proposal, maybe not as a resolution but definitely as a campaign. I'm getting mighty tired of plowing through zillions of phenomenally dum proposals.

I'm glad I got your salute, and the support of others. It makes the telegram I got for submitting an illegal proposal somewhat less disenheartening.

I'd have to disagree.

I'd consider myself fairly conservative. Well, I guess on the political spectrum I'd fall somewhere between 'moderate' and 'Republican'.

So I guess that means I lean towards the right a little.

Anyways, I also believe I have good debating skills. I mean, really anyone can be a good debater. You just can never resort to personal attacks, you should use examples as much as possible to support your point, cite sources, etc.

And to be quite honest, I do not think liberals have an edge over the conservatives when it comes to debating.

I've debated with liberals who have made just such ridiculous points I could have cried.

I've also debated with conservatives who were so inarticulate I wasn't sure whether they had made a point or not.

To be frank, Aliste, you just got here. And while what I've seen so far of you is good, you haven't been here that long. Hopefully you will stay a while and be a good counterweight to the liberalism in the forum, but I'm not going to call you a good debater on the basis of a couple of threads. Also, you are one of the few conservatives on this game, whereas there are many more liberals, so there will naturally be more good liberal debaters than conservative ones.

Anyways, I also believe I have good debating skills. I mean, really anyone can be a good debater. You just can never resort to personal attacks, you should use examples as much as possible to support your point, cite sources, etc.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Sure, anyone can be a good debater. Just don't expect that they'll go out and try to become good debaters. :D

And to be quite honest, I do not think liberals have an edge over the conservatives when it comes to debating.

Neither do I, at least not as a general rule. The issue on NationStates just seems to be that the demgrahics are weighted toward the liberals.

I've debated with liberals who have made just such ridiculous points I could have cried.

So have I, Aliste. In fact, there's a poster who hangs around the General forum. His name is MKULTRA. His stuff is so ridiculous it's funny. And sad.

I've also debated with conservatives who were so inarticulate I wasn't sure whether they had made a point or not.

So have I. There are also a few of those around the General forum.

I guess I'm teh NationStates newbie. :( Heh. Oh well, yeah I'll definitely stick around - people I have met so far have really given me a lot to think about. I like people who make me think. Heh. Seems as though there are a lot of intelligent people here.

Also, you are one of the few conservatives on this game, whereas there are many more liberals, so there will naturally be more good liberal debaters than conservative ones.

Oh I see what you're saying. Yeah, I thought you meant in general - not limited to this game alone. Ok, that makes sense now - heh.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Sure, anyone can be a good debater. Just don't expect that they'll go out and try to become good debaters.

Yeah, that's true.
