Greetings...
My humble apologies if this has been discussed, I admit I am new to this, however, I have been reading and have not seen this in the [Deleted (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=330452)] or the [Approved (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=357572)] UN proposals list, nor anything in the FAQ.
Has anyone considered implementing a variant of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act?
Thanx~!
Would this fall under the heading of a "Game Mechanics Proposal"??

Go on, explain what the Sarbanes-Oxley Act is. I admit my ignorance.

Never heard of that act before. You'll have to explain it.

"The Sarbanes-Oxley Act became law in July 2002, in response to the corporate scandals at Enron, WorldCom, Arthur Andersen and others. The act establishes new standards for corporate accountability and seeks to improve the accuracy of financial reporting for publicly traded companies."

Summarize it. I don't have the time to read through that.

SOX compliance is essentially a "Law of Accountability". Brought upon I.R.L. due to corporates such as Enron...(you get the idea).
Or they could read the link I provided...

It's a corporate accountability bill. I haven't read the details.
I just don't know that we really have an appropriate category for that type of legislation.

Damned if I can actually find what it does ... but ...
"The Conglomerated Oligarchy of Frisbeeterian Corporate States sees no need for a transnational resolution relating to corporate accountability. Since the CEOs of the various corporations comprise the actual law-making body (such as it is), I can assure you that everything we do is proper and just. Any investigative body would report back to the very companies they were investigating, so it would be a pointless and expensive layer of bureaucracy with no real purpose."
To save Texan Hotrodders the effort of posting ... "It's one of those pesky national sovereignty issues."

How would this effect communist nations with only government run corporations?

That too. I just don't bother posting it as often as I used too.

I don't know. As I admitted, I'm new here and haven't figured out all the bells-n-whistles regarding "Nation States". I don't know if this would be a bill applied to nations or the UN or it's Delegates, etc...
There might not be a need for this at all~! (shrugs)
Thanx~!

Well when you make a proposal and it becomes a resolution, it is applied to all nations as it is written. Although I think the same rules have to apply to all nations (not sure, I know you can't single out one or two nations or regions).
EDIT: BTW, remember not to involve the real-world laws and situation in your proposal text, because Enron and the USA don't exist in NS.
I dare anyone to boil that one down to a proposal, considering the word limit.
