Ladies and gentlemen, I am new to the UN. I am new to NationStates.
But a glaring flaw with an United Nations bill-in-the-works has caught my eye.
Rights of Minorities and Women Bill -
ARTICLE III- Not a single religion or belief is better or more right than another.
The word "belief" ruins the entire realm of good intentions this bill carries with it. To say, and to make law, that there is no singular belief more correct than any other, is to completely give up on civilization. This bill invalidates itself in that, upon its being made into law, I could say, and make law myself, as a UN member, that this entire bill is wrong (solely on the poorly worded ARTICLE III, including the term "belief" with no specification of religion or sexuality or anything else). It is dangerous to assume that the singular word "belief" will be understood in a religious context by all the world.
All, this bill needs a revision. Badly.
Thanks.
