UN Delegates should support the marriage ban proposal. It will rid all our nations of such sticky issues as gay marriage and polygamy by simply removing all of it. Life will be better for all of us.

Is that all you have to say? No proposal?

I would have to disagree. Many people are perfectly happy with their marriages and banning them altogether could cause a major backlash. I think that all matters surrounding marriage should be decided upon by each respective nation.

You cant ban marriage it's like you were trying to ban emotions.

the proposal itself can be found in the un proposals section

it is slightly lengthy

but not much

no banning emotions

people can be together as much as they want, live together, and even engage in...er..."emotive activities"...the only thing is that they aren't "married"

backlash?

and how would that be different from any other resolution?

especially one that attacks the sanctity of homosexuality or the sanctity of religous-based polygamy?

A ban on marriage would just be ridiculous.

Perhaps a universal rights initiative so that no other resolutions on the matter are necessary would suffice.

It's a polite courtesy to post it here for the benefit of the UN forum audience to debate further into the issue.

UN Delegates should support the marriage ban proposal. It will rid all our nations of such sticky issues as gay marriage and polygamy by simply removing all of it. Life will be better for all of us.1) Post a copy of the proposal up in the first post in future.

2) The so called " sticky issue " such as gay marriage has been dealt with.

See Here. (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=7029602&postcount=13)

3) Any proposal to " ban " marriage is illegal as far as game rules are concerned, as " Gay Rights " ( linked above ) includes the right to homosexual marriage.the proposal itself can be found in the un proposals section

it is slightly lengthy

but not muchAnd I'd just like to re-enfoce the idea that you should also post a copy of the document in question in the first placegay people creep me out1) BOO !

2) Can we try to keep on topic, ( if there even is one ... ) ... please ?

"3) Any proposal to " ban " marriage is illegal as far as game rules are concerned, as " Gay Rights " ( linked above ) includes the right to homosexual marriage."

This is confusing. Would it not repeal the right to marry for gays? Or, in cases where one resolution would repeal another, must repeal be explicit in the language of the resolution.

Sorry if I was not clear enough.

I mean that the " Gay Rights " resolution gives homosexuals the right to marry. To ban marriage it ( Gay Rights ) must be repealed first, then the campaign for the Marriage Ban can begin. Unless your banning marriage for every-one except homosexuals, ;)

At this time this is a proposal, not a repeal. And even if it was a repeal it would need to be split into a repeal for " Gay Rights " and a follow up proposal.

Any-way, I hope that clears it up.

Why would you want to ban marriage? Marriage is simply a contract of love between people. Our government does not give marriage benefits or keep track of who is married to whom, but we're not going to forbid people from being married.

But is it honestly in the rules that you cannot make a resolution like this in one step? That just seems burdensome and illogical.

The first time this joke was brought up, it was funny. This time, I'm not laughing.

Please, look for the topic I started earlier about the attempt Tiamat Taveril made. It won't fly.

anyway life would be screwed up, if ppl couldnt marry that meant that their bond between them isnt fulfilled, plus their civil roghts have been shot between the eyes... anyway banning marriage could incourage polygamy now that u dnt stay with one person, although they wnt marry they can still be with a ton of other ppl to live or cheat or hide or whatever ppl in polygamy do  :fluffle:

A ban of marriage is the most ridiculus proposal I ever heard. :headbang: I could view it as a minor stupidity to propose that marriage will no longer be acknowledged in any leghal terms or something like that, but to declare it outright punishable to even attemt to marry is outrageous.

Personally, I do not care if people having sex are married or not. Let them do whatever they wish - with the usual age limitations and the requirement to be it a consensual act of all involved parties. Let them marry by whatever ritual they feel they require, whether to please their parents or out of their respect for traditions or whatever. :fluffle:

And it is absolutely nothing the UN should be involved with. In the contrary, such a proposal should be reason enough to expell Hedonalia from the UN, and send a dire warning to the supporters of that proposal. :gundge:
