Repeal 'Freedom of Press'
A resolution to restrict political freedoms in the interest of law and order.

Category: Political Stability
Strength: Significant
Proposed by: Tzech

Description: It is deeply disturbing that the NSUN states that it is open to all forms of government, yet approves of contradicting proposals.

Resolution 64 enacts that the population of a member state must provide the population of said state the truthful happenings of the world around them. HOWEVER, certain nations choose to be a little lacking on the civil freedoms side. If the populace begins to question their government, then civil disruption, and sometime civil war can follow.

Instead of Resolution 64's ideals of handling the issue this proposal suggests:

1) Any and all member states should be allowed to develop a board of censorship if need be. This board is to only keep the citizens

2) Under which, if a nation chooses to partake in such measures, they only cut information, not edit it.

3) HOWEVER, if in an case of extreme crises, or a major world event, a nation state must first report it, unless this conflicts with point 1, with instead the board (IF member state finds one necessary) can stretch it’s influence and therefore make nations- including their own- fit in the view most fitting their plan of pursuit of happiness.

This is not a grant to make the populace ignorant, but controlled. If a population of a nation state has felt wronged by their own governing bodies, they may choose to revolt. This is clearly not what the Nation States United Nations strives for.

1) Can we please stop listing repeals by the numbers? Is it so hard to say "Support Repeal 'Freedom of Press'"?

2) Either your post or your concept is truncated. "This board is to only keep the citizens ..." makes no sense.

3) We like Freedom of the Press. Can't support you here without a whole lot better argument.

I agree with Frisbeeteria completely, going by numbers also makes it easier to accidentaly type the wrong number as I pointed out to one nation that wanted to repeal the "Fair Trial" resolution but listed the number for "Outlaw Pedophilia" instead.

A mod agrees with y'all too. I've put labels to the threads with only numbers on the first page. It would be nicer if people started doing this on their own, yes.

Further more, to me it starts off as a repeal but then reads as a new proposal to replace the current one.

This means it should probably be split into two, one repeal with reasons why to repeal, and a replacement proposal to run through the process to become a new resolution,

Or,

Re-written so as to be just a complete repeal with more coherent and direct arguments, rather then the repeal-cum-proposal method.

I agree also and while on the matter, the Telidian government sees no reason to repeal the resolution ‘Freedom of Press’.
