The Katholik Kingdom

We here in the Katholik Kingdom find religion to be an unecessary nuasance. If we outlawed it, all would be better. Without all those christian and budhist and unitarian wackos, the nations could function alot better.

Is that the wording of the proposal or did you write a longer one. Either way the DRA will not support any resolution that bans the practice of religion. The Universal Bill of Human Rights and other resolutions passed by the UN promote religious tolerance and the right to practice religion as a human right. I don't think you will gain a lot of support for this idea.

Although the government of The Republic of Adam Island is a secular one, many of our citizens choose to practice religion and we would never invade their rights that way.

Not to mention the difficulties in defining "religion."

Your proposal is a violation of the Resolution Universal Bill of Rights, and untill such resolution is repealed, your proposal will continue to remain illegal.

The Neutral Republic of Aeruillin, Aware of the importance of a separation between secular and spiritual institutions, Having noticed in the past the suffering that results from extremist religious views, While fully realizing the good intent of the author,

Hereby decides it cannot support that proposal, forward it to their region's delegate, or vote for it should it - humanity forbid! - reach the floor.

Separation of Church and State means just that. The government does not interfere with religious institutions, neither to endorse a particular one, nor to outlaw them all.

The government has responsibility to act against a religion when it deems that this religion breaks the law of the land. That would include, but not be limited to, ritual murder or other harm against the nation's citizens, felony, violation of the human rights laws, and other crimes.

As long as the religion acts within the boundaries of the law, the abolishing of religion is a violation of human and civil rights.

the nation of Morotican is avowedly atheist in its policies. This does not make this proposal any less palatable to members of its government, especially as we pride ourselves on our personal freedoms. Secular government is important for the equal treating of all religious groups, but the banning of religion is a human rights travesty and should never reach the floor.

I believe many of my esteemed colleagues have made quite eloquent points and the Telidian government supports their position against this proposal.

True. Along with a few other past resolutions (like Religious Tolerance). I'd advise against submitting this.
