Support the Fair Taxation Act

I have a new proposition which should be of great benefit to the entire world economy. The correlation between a strong middle class and a strong economy can easily be seen as a positive one. Since the rich would spend more for luxury items they would inevitably purchase, they would in essence be choosing to lower their income. Since the poor would have more money outside of being taxed, and since the slight inflation would make it easier for them to replenish their debts, they could do so and thus re-stabilize the economy.

The Fair Taxation Act
-----------------------
DESCRIPTION/BASE ARGUMENT:

All member nations must recognize the right of their citizens to their personal property. Thus, since the income of citizens of member nations is their earned private property, it shall become illegal for the governments of member nations to impose income taxes. All member nations will immediately reduce their income tax percentages to 0 and will endorse a system which calls for raise in tax on luxury items in the 25-35% range to replace funds lost by income taxes.

IN PRACTICE:

When this system is applied, the poor will still be able to purchase all the necessities of life, since they will be left untaxed. As a matter of fact, it will make it easier on them as the lower-middle class citizens would have more money for themselves.

The proposition shall also ease class tensions as rich individuals with luxury items will be looked upon more directly as contributors to society and the struggle of the poor would be greatly reduced.

RESULTANTS:
1. Eased Class Tensions
2. Lower-class citizens at lower risk
3. Property rights are protected
4. Luxury items harder to attain
5. A more middle-class society
------------------------------------------

Please support this if you favor individual rights and economic benefit!

This is a good idea. Unfortunately, it's illegal as it deals with game mechanics.

Does it really? I mean, all it does is set everyone's Income Tax to 0%.

This proposal is severely breaching national sovereignity, without doing anything for better international relations. We are therefor against this.

Apart from that, this resolution would make it impossible for our nation to maintain our high quality education system, our welfare system, our healthcare...This would lead to less quality, more inequality. Our citizens pay a lot of tax, but they get it back by not having to spend money on education or healthcare.

I would tell you off for your very questionable economics and even more questionable desired results (why would class tensions be eased when luxury items are harder to attain? Isn't that counter-intuitive?), but the resolution would be illegal anyway, since it both deals with game mechanics and outlaws a form of government, so there isn't much point.

This idea is a bad one - it would severely harm the sovereignty of many states that are members of the UN in an obvious manner. Why not go on an read UN as "Utopian Nations" and not united..?

all it does is set everyone's Income Tax

Something which the UN is not allowed to do in this game. Read the stickies at the top of the UN forum.

And if everyone just stops buying luxary items the money gained from taxes drops to zero and the governments of all UN nations are bankrupt within the month.

Unless you start classifying food and water as luxary items, I am not sure how this would work.

Plus as several other members have pointed out, it's somewhat against the rules.
