A proposal requiring some debate.

I was speaking with a friend recently about the relative freedom of nations to
make war upon each other, even when said nations are UN delegates. I came to the conclusion that the best way to curb this rampant travesty is to simply impose a UN approved budget for the regional forces of nations. This meaning that the military forces of each region are restricted to a certain amount of resources for growth annually. This would restrict some of the military build-up prevalent amongst the larger nations, and thus curb the trend of militarism that is sweeping across smaller, martially weaker nations.

Agree? Disagree?

Sincerely,

Brendan, Grand Duke of Eirie.

I'm usually against any action that takes power away from member nations and gives it to the UN. I believe it is the right of any member nation to build what ever millitary they see fit to defend themselves.

Haveing a large millitary is not a crime, it's what you do with that millitary that may or may not be a crime.

Nations that have a history of unjustified violence against other nations probably should have restrictions placed on millitary development, but nations innocent of any such offence should not.

However, in my opinion, it should be the responsibility of the country with no recorded offenses to take control of the regional bidget in the first place.

If a nation takes unjustified action against another UN member, then the wronged member can ask the UN for help. I don't think it is the place of the UN to regulate our national budgets. If the UN controls what money we spend on what, then why not just elect a member emperor and have it done with.

It would be better to make it clear that any country that is a UN member that behaves contrary to UN policy should be immediatley ejected from the UN and have sanctions imposed upon it

The UN lacks the power to eject nations (for game mechanics reasons).

Which is not to say you can't roleplay beating him to a pulp in International Incidents if you so desire.

This proposal is no good, game mechanics. That, and it violates our soverignity big time. How dare the UN even consider messing with my military budget?

I'm against communism, but I think there is some logic to it. I think, the more powerful nations should be allowed to have more military force than weaker ones. They do this in the real government of the u.s. with electorial votes, so why not now?

What I said was B.S. That is communism, and it never will work. You can't limit nations right to have a bigger military.
