Support COLD FUSION TECHNOLOGY

Bohemia and Moravia II
07-10-2004, 17:07
I've written a proposal for the UN regarding the perfection of Cold Fusion Technology. Please read it, and if you like it, endorse it.

Should it pass, and be a success, it would be a great benifit for all the people of our little world.

This resolution would basically get the best sceintific minds to work on the challenge together with support from most UN nations.

Could you post a copy here? Cause although it sounds good in theory, how you have written it is (as unbelievable as it sounds) more important than the idea.

Axis Nova, having already developed conventional fusion, sees no need for this resolution.

Cold Fusion Technology
A resolution to reduce barriers to free trade and commerce.

Category: Free Trade
Strength: Significant
Proposed by: Bohemia and Moravia II

Description: A resolution that would pool the resources of all UN Nations to create Cold Fusion Technology and free energy for the world, while preventing CFT to be monopolized.

DRAFT FOR CFT RESOLUTION:

Whereas, society and the world need reliable energy sources, and the need and demand for such energy is increasing.
Whereas, the majority of these energy sources are expensive and produce wastes and pollutants that are toxic to individuals and the environment.
Whereas, COLD FUSION Technology (CFT) would over exceed the entire World’s energy demands, if the technology and dynamics of that technology were perfected.
Furthermore, it is likely that with a focused mutual effort of nations, workable and practical CFT could be achieved.
Furthermore, not only would CFT provide an new and unlimited energy/electricity source, but it also should:
1. Have the potential to turn vast amounts of garbage and waste of all kinds into useable fuel for CFT
2. Burn clean and produce no toxic by-products or waste
3. Lead to new propulsion systems for space exploration at a very cheap cost once dynamics for propulsion are developed
4. Be a first-step in the transmutation of matter and energy (leading to such things as teleportation and matter/element transmutation)
5. Provide poorer nations/citizens cheap and affordable power
6. Propel the world into a new and better era
Therefore, be it resolved that:

Member States of the United Nations work out a detailed plan to pool their best scientists, a significant amount of funding, and decide on a central location to coordinate, develop, and create a working CFT system for the benefit of all people and nations, with the following conditions:

1. Initial goal will be to create self-sustaining CFT reactor(s) for the production of electricity. These reactors must be clean-burning (produce no toxic emissions or by-products) and capable of producing more energy than they consume.
2. All information before, during, and following the development of all CFT systems must be shared with ALL UN nations (including any entities or individuals involved).
3. No nation, corporation, nor individuals will be allowed to monopolize CFT production or information before, during, or after the technology is perfected---competition and cooperation is essential to insure CFT does not become a tool to manipulate or take advantage of other individuals or nations.
4. CFT must be used in accordance to UN mandates, resolutions, and legal requirements already active
5. Nations of NON-UN MEMBERSHIP may receive CFT from any UN NATION who wishes to give/sell it to them, provided the UN-NATION abides by current UN resolutions in place regarding the selling of potential weapons and nuclear technology to dangerous nations and terrorists.
6. Any UN nation may have temporary or permanent observers on the project site for the purpose of monitoring the project for the assurance of the peaceful goals of the project and to assure that any discoveries during the project are not monopolized.

Approvals: 4 (New Secundus, Areen, Royalism, Ilconia)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 130 more approvals)

Voting Ends: Sun Oct 10 2004

OOC: Little? You haven't seen the number of nations on here recently have you? :)

IC:

The Imperium will consider your proposal.

While we have no objection to this proposal, and would like to hear more about it, my government and I believe that our scientists have other, more pressing things to study, and that our money could be put to better use.

(laughs), i am a space nation, so i need not this resoloution, I will not spend our time, researching an old power source, while a new one (Gilium, preatty abundant , for us at least) sits on a table, waiting for somone to research it more which is more useful to us, im sorry to say, but i will not support this, as we need not use it, the only thing is, i wish you would say that those of us that need not this power source, do not need to start research, besides i already have a recycler system that works wonders for us (im preatty shure CFP systems dont recycle everything, and what happens when you lose all your trash?????:) dont wanna get people who arnt space age mad
Bahgum
08-10-2004, 08:25
Bahgum is not prepared to sink millions of Eckythumps into a project which has no promising scientific theories whatsoever. The only cold fusion technology which looked promising was that of ultrasonic fusion, which claimed that via cavitation, the resulting high temperatures and Pressures on the micro-scale could effectively create fusion at room temperature on the macro-scale. This was shown to be false. No other theory has been even half as promising. Cold fusion is widely held to be a pipe dream.

Hot fusion, however, is moving ahead at a healthy pace, current experimental tokamak reactors have actually produced fusion, although the energy required to get to this point has so far been more than that created by fusion. The ITER reactor, a multi national (real world-sorry) project aims to create the worlds first stable power producing fusion reactor, by scaling up the advances made in previous experiments. The aim is a prototype reactor giving fusion, probably within 2 decades.

As you can see, even the most promising fusion (hot) is decades away from even a demonstrator. Cold fusion is not at the stage where large scale multinational projects would be cost effective or even worthwhile at all. A good theory would be a start! Bahgum would propose that the proposal is resubmitted to encourage hot fusion research.
Sophista

The government of Sophista agrees with Bahgum, and has no wishes to dump a "significant" amount of currency and human capital into a project that cannot produce results in a realistic timetable. Furthermore, we refuse to let our scientists work pro bono for cause that does nothing to support the well being of the scientists who created it. Along with being a realist, our PM is also a strong proponent of intelletcual property rights.
Snoogit

The United Socialist states of Snoogit cannot accept this proposal in its current form...

Currently our scientists are at work on many different cures, and physical breakthroughs.

Until the government of Bohemia and Moravia II can provide sustainable Cold Fusion Technology to the Delegation we see no need to support this cause.
Merridonia
09-10-2004, 10:19
Merridonia is but a small nation, and currently preoccupied with attempting to find a tentative balance between the desires of the businesses, the people, and the environment that is satisfying to all long enough that we may at least temporarily begin to focus on extremely large-scale efforts such as this.
Our "best scientists" and significant amounts of money are therefore working and being spent on projects that I deem more important and relative to our situation than a technology that is neither a major concern of ours yet or even likely to produce desirable results any time soon, let alone an indefinite time in the future.
My Most Serene Republic will have to deny this.

Regretfully, although intrigued by your efforts and willing to read the latest journals on the subject as discoveries are made,
