A Request

The Most Glorious Hack

Since the Game Mods are not to deleted duplicate repeals, could the readers of this board please look at the proposal list before submitting a repeal? Seriously... there's what? 15 different proposals to overturn Fight The Axis Of Evil and Gay Rights?

I know that the frequent posters here probably aren't doing this, but I'm hoping that some of you lurkers out there might notice this and take the time to skim the list before proposing your repeal. Trust me, you're not the first person who wants to toast Fight the Axis of Evil because "it only got 2 votes".

This isn't an official order or anything, just a request, as I'm sick of seeing all these duplicates while looking for proposals that need to be axed. We've gotten 7 pages of proposals since I cleaned the list yesterday. 7 pages. I wager a good 60-70% of them are duplicate repeals.

Most of the people proposing repeals probably don't even read these boards anyway....

I'm sure it'll calm down....well, I hope it will calm down.....But Pandora's box has been opened and we just gotta live with it for now.... :(

2) I think I really could kick [violet] right about now, no regard to their being Max or not.

3) I'm sure any-body who bothers to actually read these threads before they post will ...

...

Good luck, team.

Since the Game Mods are not to deleted duplicate repeals,
Uh...not to be obnoxious about it or anything, but...why not??

If duplicate resolutions/repeals got deleted and earned a minor-offense warning, you might actually get people reading the proposal list before they post. Which will never happen by simply requesting it in the forum.

Is [violet] delving into the UN queue on a daily basis, cleaning out the stinkers and wading through the repeals? Uh huh. Didn't think so.

Perhaps it will soon be time for Admins and Mods to revisit this decision.

(in the meantime, I just saw at least 4 repeals submitted with NO arguments. Those should be deletable under the 'unworthy of consideration' rule.)

(in the meantime, I just saw at least 4 repeals submitted with NO arguments. Those should be deletable under the 'unworthy of consideration' rule.)If I understand the situation correctly, we are deleting the ones with poor or no arguments, but leaving the ones with reasonable arguments, for the delegates to decide which argument they want to approve over the others. In theory. How it really is working is that most of the same delegates are approving all the duplicate repeals of a certain resolution, without discrimination, from what I've seen.

It's for the UN delegates to decide on the merits of UN proposals, not us. Some repeal proposals may give better arguments than others.
Provided they stay within the rules outlined in the sticky at the top of this forum, we have to leave them.

Policy has from the start been to toast these ones until the bug is fixed.

*Coming Clean*

OOC: OK, here are my long-term UN goals:

1. Get the Good Samaritan Laws passed.
2. Get Sydia's proposal to the floor (I like it).
3. Coordinate a repeal of the "Fight the Axis of Evil" resolution.
4. Coordinate a repeal of the "Required Basic Healthcare" resolution.
5. Help get the Bio-diversity Convention back from the nether regions of mod space.
6. Twist my former Delegates arms to get the "Peaceful Uses of Outer Space" proposal to the floor. <--- this one is amazingly good
7. Get my Long-Term Disaster Assistance proposal into the queue.
8. Bring back my Alcohol Tariff Reduction proposal.
9. start my Furtherment of Democracy proposal (TOP SECRET subject).

Anyway, I've been collecting some of the names of UN Delegates whom are endorsing these things and believe me, right now I have a pretty darn good relationship with *many* UN Delegates. While somebody else may beat me to this, the problem you mods are experiencing is a lack of leadership on *our* (active UN Members) part.

Honestly, if I wasn't so far along on my Good Samartian issue, I can assure you that I'd already have 100+ endorsements for a well written and corrodinated political attack on that proposal. It bugs me only slightly less than the spam like nature of the proposals that you poor folks are subjected to (BTW I appreciate what you are doing -- it has been noticed).

What *really* needs to be done is some other active UN member with loads of time and political influence (and in reality there are only a dozen or so of us) ... should probably realize that proposal / repeals reach the floor based on coordination. I certainly would appreciate somebody else showing that repeals are possible.

Now the reason there are so many ... a few people have talked to me that the reason they submit proposals (and I'm guessing repeals) is they'd like to be a larger part of the NationStates game. Repeals are so much easier than new proposals, so I'm not surprised you are seeing so many. In fact, unless you are deleting garbage faster than I can read what is in the queue, it looks to me as if the number of crappy proposals has decreased somewhat, with people being happy with just taking sniper shots at their least favourite resolutions.

I think Fris is right. The cat is out of the bag, and until somebody take the lead here, we're gonna continue to see 5 of these suckers per day.

I'll be willing to help, but right now I've got another battle to fight. ;) (That is a strong hint that one of you wanting to make a name for yourself can go down in NS history as being the nation that made the first repeal possible ... please don't force me to be that player, as I'm honestly more interested in Gloom-and-Doom stuff, i.e. playing the man in black on the "pale" white horse -- I could provide the references / citation, but I trust many of you understand what I'm driving at here.)

I've been hitting the queue daily now. There's too much crap to keep up with otherwise. I just finished a sweep, and there's still 12 pages of proposals, and about 6 or 7 pages worth are repeals. Axis, Gay Rights, and Euthanasia are the big three.

And that's with wiping out stupid ones that don't make any sense, or voice approval of the resolution (THEN WHY ARE YOU WANTING TO REPEAL IT?!).

Oddly enough, there's no request to remove Required Basic Health Care, and none of the Axis repeals are worth a damn. Actually, the quality is going down, in general. The number of "stupid but legal" proposals is growing, unfortunately.

We'll get there.

I submitted a RBH repeal last week, and somebody else did one before that. Basically *gasp* the two of us that are interested in this, first look through the queue before submitting our repeal.

But given that I have something else to occupy me, that can be somebody else's fun! :)
