Repeal "Fight the Axis of Evil" - enough already!

Skimming through the proposals queue I counted 12 proposals to repeal the first resolution. It's ridiculous, quite frankly; I don't see why a different set of rules should apply to 'Repeal "n"' resolutions.

The ones lacking utterly in semantic style are deleted. The rest, we figure delegates can have a choice as to which appeal argument they want to endorse over others.

Although I quite agree with you. It's maddening. *trouts everyone who submits one of the damn things*

Give it about 3 weeks. By then there may be enough different Delegates endorsing these shot in the dark proposals that one of us that actually gives a damn will start a campaign.

Here is a list of the endorsements for the first Repeal in today's queue:

Description: UN Resolution #1: Fight the Axis of Evil (Category: International Security; Strength: Strong) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: The voting population of the UN has expanded to over 15,000 nations and it would be prudent to revisit this issue since there was a total of 3 nations voting on it.

Approvals: 46 (Neudegg, DNOSH, Coolet, OMAPA-NAEN II, Keltie, Platos Academy, Nireva, The Bruce, Connectistan, Markodonia, Navonia, Mousebumples, Xepillion, E-Daddy, Lygonia, Moshington DC, Kiwipeso, Caledonae, Tal Maritima, Saniuqa, Celticadia, Xarinnia, Humanitty, Kelrath, Thulie, Rejistania, Praetoriata, Guang Ming, Axario, Rotovia, Beithir, Aaronakia, Jovianica, Gaposis, Nielston, Theniupollis, Frisbeeteria, Deochristus, Crouchend, Pere-landra, Cabaz, Whitey Island, Singapore Bukit Batok, Sydia, Groot Gouda, Plinjville)

It actually is IMHO a sound argument. Direct and to the point.

Anyway, I'd *highly* recommend anybody who is submitting these proposals keep your arguments logical like the above, and consider asking these delegates for support.

Here are the lists of approvals from the *other* repeals for the same resolution (bold are nations that might be willing to endorse the first repeal):

Approvals: 37 (Bacrum-Valeria, DNOSH, Coolet, People of Iran, Captain Wes Industries, Keltie, Platos Academy, Nireva, The Bruce, The Pointing Monkey, Connectistan, Markodonia, Spoonskia, Navonia, Mousebumples, Xepillion, Lygonia, Moshington DC, Caledonae, Guevarista, Tuesday Heights, Saniuqa, Xarinnia, Humanitty, Kelrath, Rejistania, Praetoriata, Rotovia, Beithir, Aaronakia, Jovianica, Theniupollis, Deochristus, Cabaz, Pere-landra, Singapore Bukit Batok, Wolf America)

Approvals: 23 (Neudegg, Coolet, The Bruce, Nireva, Markodonia, Mousebumples, Xepillion, Lygonia, Moshington DC, Kiwipeso, Orioni, Caledonae, Tuesday Heights, Xarinnia, Humanitty, Rejistania, Singapore Bukit Batok, Rotovia, Beithir, Jovianica, Theniupollis, Deochristus, Wolf America)

Approvals: 21 (Coolet, Nireva, Markodonia, Ariddia, Xepillion, Lygonia, The Bruce, Moshington DC, Kiwipeso, Caledonae, Tuesday Heights, Xarinnia, Humanitty, Rejistania, Rotovia, Beithir, Jovianica, Frisbeeteria, Deochristus, Cabaz, Wolf America)

Approvals: 17 (Coolet, Nireva, Markodonia, Ariddia, Lygonia, The Bruce, Moshington DC, Kiwipeso, Caledonae, Tuesday Heights, Humanitty, Rejistania, Rotovia, Beithir, Jovianica, Deochristus, Cabaz)

Approvals: 18 (Captain Wes Industries, Bacrum-Valeria, Lygonia, Checkers McDog, The Bruce, Moshington DC, Kiwipeso, Benessere, Coolet, Caledonae, Nireva, Tuesday Heights, Humanitty, Thulie, Rejistania, Rotovia, Jovianica, Dalmond)

Approvals: 10 (Kiwipeso, Benessere, Nireva, Caledonae, Tuesday Heights, Lygonia, Humanitty, Rejistania, Coolet, Jovianica)

Approvals: 8 (Tuesday Heights, Lygonia, Nireva, Humanitty, Thulie, Rejistania, Coolet, Jovianica)

Approvals: 6 (Tuesday Heights, Lygonia, Nireva, Humanitty, Rejistania, Jovianica)

Approvals: 9 (Tuesday Heights, Ariddia, Lygonia, Nireva, Humanitty, Thulie, Rejistania, Coolet, Jovianica)

Approvals: 9 (Libruania, Lygonia, Nireva, Humanitty, Thulie, Rejistania, Coolet, Jovianica, Frisbeeteria)

Approvals: 5 (Humanitty, Thulie, Rejistania, Jovianica, Nireva)

Approvals: 6 (Rejistania, Coolet, Jovianica, Nielston, Nireva, Praetoriata)

Anyway, it looks that as if this morning that there is in fact a fair amount of overlap. All that is needed is to save a list of interested delegates and just keep at it. I dare say that the vote outcome may be the highest in NS UN history. :/

OK, the Repeal motion is about to expire and though I'm not thrilled about repeals, it is damn hard to get any proposals to the UN floor with so many repeals being submitted.

I think the current motion (along with a few others) will expire in the next few hours, but here is a good telegramming list for any nation who is willing to get *other* UN Delegates to support your repeal of the first resolution:

Approvals: 85 (Neudegg, DNOSH, Coolet, OMAPA-NAEN II, Keltie, Platos Academy, Nireva, The Bruce, Connectistan, Markodonia, Navonia, Mousebumples, Xepillion, E-Daddy, Lygonia, Moshington DC, Kiwipeso, Caledonae, Tal Maritima, Saniuqa, Celticadia, Xarinnia, Humanitty, Kelrath, Thulie, Rejistania, Praetoriata, Guang Ming, Axario, Rotovia, Beithir, Aaronakia, Jovianica, Nielston, Theniupollis, Frisbeeteria, Deochristus, Crouchend, Pere-landra, Cabaz, Whitey Island, Singapore Bukit Batok, Sydia, Groot Gouda, Plinjville, Wolf America, Dalmond, Yelda, Libruania, Gomunizda, Cartage, Jennaleen, Sheepia, Randomea, Peaonusahl, 133tness55, Kapellen, Real Freedonia, Kappa Sigmas, Isvevia, Igwanarno, Raxoria, The Two-Headed Dragon, Nord-Dorjian, Daniel G Johnson, North Folder, NewTexas, Ponchopolis, DoomExpress, Canericana, Corvos, Aailand, Syu, Tierra del Queso, Dancing Penguin, Minturno, Xerxes855, Blackbird, Legalese, Pointe Noire, Keruvalia, The Non-Human Union, Evil Woody Thoughts, Harry Fung, Lamb Rogan Josh)

Gaining so many proposals in one day is a good sign, and it is IMHO worth trying again, but I'd recommend whomever submits such a proposal seriously consider spending the time to telegram other UN Delegates lest your repeal may fall short as well.

Good luck.

I'm quite concerned about the various repeal proposals. Even though there are now links on the list of passed resolutions, there has been no change (as I see) to the rules pertaining to bad or poor resolutions. Under those rules, repeal proposals are considered a "Flagrant Offence," punishable by ejection from the United Nations without a first warning. In the past, UN nations have been ejected, without a first warning, for this reason.

If there are repeal links now available on the resolutions list, I would hope that the mods modify the proposal writing criteria (and offences!)

That said, I personally believe that Resolution #1 has always been illegal. On the United Nations resolutions page, you can see that Resolution #1 was passed on November 12, 2002. On that same page, you can also see that the NS United Nations came into existence on November 13, 2002 -- one day after the resolution. That would mean that "Fight Axis of Evil" is not technically a UN resolution.

The text used in the argument for a repeal is held to the exact same standards as the text used in proposals. The moderators have been deleting inappropriate repeals, and Cog included at least one of these in his Case Study of Deleted proposals.

Now the reason the repeals are failing may have two reasons. I want to stress that this is just my opinion.

First, I'm convinced nations that make repeals don't campaign for them with the same sincere interest that they do with proposals. I certainly am guilty of this, though I am tracking repeal friendly Delegates.

Second, repeals and proposals alike have a great difficultly in making it to the queue unless they are on the first page for some time, because many UN Delegates start with the proposals about to expire and don't read through the entire queue. :( This is of course their right, but the truth is, it does take a lot of time to read all of the repeals / proposals and endorse them.

It simply is a difficult system.

We the dictators of the Protectorates of Knoteiphere would most likely desire #1 to be repealed. If you haven't already done so, please contact my regional delegate, The People's Republic of Wade Wise Words Ink, indeed, please do so right away.

I do believe my repeal writing guide, located here (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=365040), might help the cause of repeals if nations were to utilize the resources located within; having said that, I am requesting that it be made a Sticky as we speak.
