Repeal "Fight the Axis of Evil"
A proposal to repeal a previously passed resolution
Description: UN Resolution #1: Fight the Axis of Evil (Category: International Security; Strength: Strong) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.
Argument: Building new and more devastating weapons has been proven to allow countries to oppress smaller nations that are less able to defend themselves. Following this, minorities take it upon themselves to defend their nations in any way possible, which ultimately results in the deaths of civilians.
Government spending on the military not only increases the likelihood of terrorist activity, but also moves away from the more honorable and worthwhile activity of investing in education, social security, and crime prevention.
In addition to this, the United Nations has swelled immensely since the first three votes, and as such the resolution is no longer an accurate view of the current nations. Given that around 10,000 nations now vote on any resolution, it is bizarre that the whole UN should enforce a resolution approved by only three.
To finalize, having weapons of any scale of destruction can cause only harm. If a threat is posed, people will become hostile, and strike when they can in whatever manner they can, be it strategic destruction of military bases or car-bombing civilian buildings. I thus propose to repeal the UN resolution "Fight the Axis of Evil" in the name of international security and for the safety of every innocent citizen in the entire world.
Approvals: 6 (Neudegg, Concerted Socialists, Endolantron, Coolet, Al-Zar, The Bruce)
Status: Lacking Support (requires 91 more approvals)
Voting Ends: Wed Sep 29 2004
I call on all UN regional delegates in the free and democratic world to see this gross misjustice taken down from the list of resolutions. My argument is clear: The only outcome of weapons is war in any scenario.
The repeal is currently on page 12, as of 06:46 GMT, September 27th.
Please, for the security of every citizen's right to free speech, help me pull down this waste of government spending by permitting this resolution to reach quorum.
