Approval needed to ban assault weapons

We need other countries to approve our resolution to ban assault rifles. Banning assault weapons will ensure that gun violence and crime will go down in everyones country. And before you get angry and call us a country of bleeding hearts, keep in mind that we begin by saying we support the rights of gun owners, hunters and everyone's right to defend themselves with a gun. We support people's right to bear arms. We even threaten to use guns in our motto. We just feel that assault weapons is a little bit over the line. Anyhow, if you search for assault weapons in the UN resolution, this should come up. Well we've said all we can say. God bless you all, and do the right thing for your country!

Voted against. My country is infested by bandits and marauders of all types and I defend the right of my people to bear arms. As a matter of fact, arms manufacturing is a major industry of my nation and this so-called 'resolution' would throw our economy into disarray.

I concur. A nation's internal policy on the ownership of firearms is their's to decide, regardless of what decision they reach. It would be improper for the United Nations to intervene, especially considering the wide array of nations we're dealing with.

Hmmm...it's hard to be a smart-ass when everybody uses your material before you get to. :(

What they said.

The Emipire disagrees completely with this resolution. We cannot sacrifice such a vital part of our economy. There is no proof that a ban on assault weapons would lower crime. Crime is extememly low in the Empire, yet we produce millions of assault weapons every year.

I can't actually remember the last time I saw an assult weapon in TilEnca, so I have no views on the proposal one way or another. But as gun control should be a National decision, rather than an international one I believe I would have to vote against it.

hmmmm, apparently my country has a great many of its national animal around, but lets face it, if it ain't rare, it ain't usually special so i think a few nice assault weapons would make my species one of the rarest in the world which tourists would flock to see......mmmmm mini guns..... :mp5:

I would only support the banning of "Assault Weapons" if oyu defined "Assault weapons" to be any fully automatic rifle or handgun (you know, like in that US law that's been around 70 years). 1994 banned "Assault Weapons" have no reason to be illegal and therefore should not be.

Why ban something that is too easy to obtain in blackmarkets? Rules and laws are only for law-abiding nations. Rogue states will always break the rules no matter what they are. In that instance why handicap yourself? In other words don't jump out of the boat holding the anchor and try to swim.

Adopt The Holy Republic of Hawdawg's saying...

Practice Gun Control..........use both hands.

I was not referring to banning assualt weapons from countries. I was rather referring to civilians owning assault weapons. This would mean fully automatic weapons. Your armed forces would still be able to own and use these weapons; this way your economies would not perish because the need for these guns is still vital. We feel that banning these weapons from civilians would decrease crime all around. And we are generally relaxed on gun laws, in fact our leaders own several guns. We would simply not like our citizens to carry fully automatic weapons as they lead to disasters-case and point Israel and Palestine.
