I have submitted a proposal and wish for your support. The proposal is called 'Weapons of Mass Destruction Ban'. The plan is for the UN to ban the use of all nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons. :gundge:
:( For the sake of victims of these weapons, and the survivors who will never be the same, please support this proposal.

Here it is....

Weapon of Mass Destruction Ban
A resolution to slash worldwide military spending.

Category: Global Disarmament Strength: Strong Proposed by: Blackledge
Description: The goal of this proposal is to see the end of the use, production, and sale of Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical(NBC) weapons.

1. No ccountry may produce NBC weapons anymore.

2. No country may use NBC weapons for any reason, and use of them will result in sactions and fines levied by the UN, or expulsion from the UN.

3. Any country that sells its NBC weapons to any nation or organization, will be fined and/or expelled from the UN.

4. A commission headed by UN personal shall see to the destruction and disassembly of all NBC weapons of UN nations.

5. All NBC weapons will be handed over to the UN.

6. Any nation attacked by another with NBC weapons may not retaliate with NBC weapons.

7. Any secret stockpiles discovered will result in serious fines and sactions.

NBC weapons have been the scourge of war for years, and we must now end their use and production.
The UN must take the initiative destroy NBC weapons.

* post your proposal text in here please....

1. No ccountry may produce NBC weapons anymore.

You of course mean that none of us 30,000+ UN members can, and not the other 90,000+ non-un nation states that will *still* have them.

2. No country may use NBC weapons for any reason, and use of them will result in sactions and fines levied by the UN, or expulsion from the UN.

Of course, once again, only UN states. And of course non-UN nations using them suffer little to no recourse in the matter. Since they obviously can't be expelled, and they are under zero obligatory subservience to the un for fines.

3. Any country that sells its NBC weapons to any nation or organization, will be fined and/or expelled from the UN.

See above (note how ineffective this actually all is at actually doing much but engouraging even larger blocks of nations to leave the UN in favor of reliance on other alliances, non-UN in nature.)

4. A commission headed by UN personal shall see to the destruction and disassembly of all NBC weapons of UN nations.

I'm assuming you mean PERSONNEL and not PERSONAL. Finally, you recognize that there exists a world outside of the UN.

5. All NBC weapons will be handed over to the UN.

I thought UN personnel were seeing to their disposal.... unless of course you're reffering to non-UN nationstates, who of course we have no authority to rule over, and therefore this one is a violation of game mechanics.

6. Any nation attacked by another with NBC weapons may not retaliate with NBC weapons.

Of course, we won't have any, should it pass (not that it has a snow-balls chance in hell of doing such, as most UN nationstates at least have common sense... which the proposal writer lacks).

7. Any secret stockpiles discovered will result in serious fines and sactions.

UN nations of course, as non-UN states can put their own Live TV and paint them in pastel colors and suffer no ill effects as such.

NBC weapons have been the scourge of war for years, and we must now end their use and production.
The UN must take the initiative destroy NBC weapons.

Which is of course impossible in the NS world, since the NSUN does not have global authority, merely authority over the 30% of the nations which have membership in her, and diddly-squat on the other 70% of the planet.

Really people, you honestly need to start using your brains. These proposal have no chance of passing, and even if they were to, would accomplish nothing.... not in the NS world at least.

I would like to ask you of something. What is the point of passing ANY resoltions in the UN if we are only a minority in the UN? Perhaps you should look past a few spelling errors and look at a fact: its a game. You should look at the practical fact that nothing can happen to our countries anyway. I'm trying to have an optimistic proposal passed, so calm down. If you could use your brains, you'd know that nothing the UN passes has anything to do with non-UN nations, so don't worry about them.

Anyone who has the time to pick out spelling errors like you did needs a life.

Hey now, I suggest keeping calm.

Anyway, here's the main problem

3. Any country that sells its NBC weapons to any nation or organization, will be fined and/or expelled from the UN.

A nation cannot be expelled from the UN unless the nation breaks game rules. The game cannot do it otherwise. Besides, once this resolution has passed, thats if, then every UN member state will have to do follow it anyway, so theres no real need for #3.

As far as the UN members being defenceless against non-UN nations goes, I don't think this is a problem, global disarmament has to start somewhere, and if the UN nations are happy to get the ball rolling, then hey, it's a start.

1) It's a game with rules. Your clause 3 violates those rules.

2, 3, 4) Any credibility you ever sought washes out immediately when you resort to insults and flaming.

Tekania did what we do here - he tore the proposal apart looking for flaws, and did a pretty fine job of analysis (and not for the first time, either)

As for the argument that UN vs. non-UN is irrelevant, have a look at the RP forums sometime. Everytime we pass a UN resolution, some non-UN nation attempts to take advantage of it. If you want to pretend that there are two separate games here, go ahead. Just don't expect me to support your pollyanna viewpoints.

I'm curious, how can non-UN nations take advantage of an UN proposal?

And you are right about my comments, I did over the top. But Tekania should watch who he says lacks common sense. If we listened to everyone who said idealistic people lacked common sense, we'd probably still be slave-owning, white supremists, who steal land from native americans.

I will revise my proposal and use his analysis to better it.

Oh, and Frisbeeteria, remember: 'Braccae tuae aperiuntur'

Without any personal attacks on the author, this is a terrible idea. NBC weapons act as a deterrant to those nations who might attack one in possession of such weapons. ("If I attack San Mabus, I'll get nuked. Hmmm, bad idea.")

The only way our fair nation could support such a proposal would be to limit the spread of these weapons to non-UN nations, and to secure stockpiles and the technology to create the weapons. This, I might add, is a far cry from this proposal.

With the recent passing of this most recent UN Resolution, specifically, the banning of whaling, the Hack has an announcement to make, which includes an offer for all nations who voted against this resolution.

The Hack would like to announce that as a non-UN member, we are unaffected by this resolution. Because of this, we are upping the quota for our whalers by two thousand percent. The excess whales will be available for sale to any nation impacted by this resolution, with a "slight" markup. Hopefully this will be profitable for all involved parties.

The Hack would like to thank the UN for passing this resolution and allowing us this opportunity to make such profits off such worthless animals. Cheers!

This proposal is illegal since the thing proposing ejection is game mechanics.

wow, what a suprise, a WMD disarmament proposal! Why I was wondering just last week it's been almost days since the last one was submitted - I was wondering when someone would repeat history.
