Methamphetamine Illegalization

A resolution to ban, legalize, or encourage recreational drugs.

Currently listed on page 12 of the UN pages

Category: Recreational Drug Use
Decision: Outlaw
Proposed by: Meadowbank

Although pharmaceutical methamphetamine once widely was available in this world, its medical use is very restricted today. Almost all of today's methamphetamine is homemade and resembles a fine coarse powder, crystal or chunks. Its color varies from off-white to yellow, and it is furnished in plastic wrap, aluminum foil, capsules or tablets of various sizes and colors. It is taken into the body by swallowing, snorting or injecting intravenously. Methamphetamine is called by many names, including crank, crystal, meth, speed, go-fast, go, crystal meth, zip, chris, cristy, or ice.

Long term effects include
* hallucinations
* disorganized lifestyle
* violent and aggressive behavior
* permanent psychological problems
* behavior resembling paranoid schizophrenia
* poor coping abilities
* disturbance of personality development
* lowered resistance to illnesses
* possible brain damage
This resolution is to prohibit the manufacturing of this harmful drug without a permit, and also to illegalize the use of it recreationally.

Please give this support as it affects all of us!

OOC: I totally understand where you're coming from. The place I currently live has alot of problems with meth labs cropping up and methheads doing crazy stuff, but...

IC: I will be voting against this proposal as it addresses a domestic issue and violates my national sovereignty. However, I wish you luck in getting it passed. You never know what the U.N. might pass.

OOC: Yeah, here in the town that i live in in washington state is full of methheads and crackheads....

IC: The Armed Republic of Dirtyfrank has legalized all drug use and our crime rate is at an alltime low....I for one will have to vote against the resolution....

If anybody wants to tackle the Recreational Drug categories, add language into your proposals to outlaw or relax *international* recreational drug sales. That would be more fitting with the UN and probably eliminate some of the sovereignty based issues.

I'm not saying that this means nations will change their positions ... but it would give the debate international standing.

On the subject of domestic prevalence rates associated with recreational stimulants and the international marketing of these substances my government has no official position or statement.

What, you want to cut off my sources, Mik?

Fascist! ;)

No, really. It's a matter of internal politics, not international politics. Vastiva has a legal system which takes into account only personal responsibility. We don't really care what you do to yourself, only what you do to others. So yes, you can have all the meth you want - it's available at the corner store, purity assayed, dosage standardized.

But heaven help you if you try to shoplift it.

Vote Nay.

Okay, here's one thing - there's no such word as "illegalize". You want "outlawed".

I don't have anything else to say that the rest haven't said already. For the record, all drugs are fully legalized in Kelssek and are our biggest source of tax revenue - we'd have to raise income taxes drastically if this took effect.

Well, I clearly remember my English teacher chewing out someone for using the word illegalize, so it's probably an American word. Sorry, we still like the letter u.

This proposal contains no argument that even begins to persuade us that these drugs shouldn't be legal.
